Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

Well researched, and thanks. Let us hope, ‘lacked procedural fairness’ will be the decisive argument in our favour.

For what its worth, which isn’t much, I do believe we will be reinstated, and will go on to win it!
I can take no credit for the research, it was Microsoft Copilot - so you can blame them if it is incorrect. The fact that they take proportionality into account could also come into play as a precedent. A missed new deadline on blind trusts with Textor uninvolved with the club during the competition could swing it

Just sent this to UEFA’s disciplinary email address. Will probably go straight into their spam box, but who cares, it made me feel better writing it!

FTAO: Aleksander Čeferin and Theodore Theodoridis

The decision of the CFCB, on Friday 11 July, just does not make any sense.

How is it there are no significant MCO issues between Palace FC and Brøndby IF, and yet there are significant MCO issues between Crystal Palace FC and Olympique Lyonnais?

This is a barely disguised political decision, which has more to do with damage limitation than any clear notion of justice.

It all reeks of institutional corruption that totally discredits UEFA and its associated disciplinary body.

I therefore call upon Aleksander Čeferin and Theodore Theodoridis to intervene personally and initiate the process of overturning this dreadful decision.

But if you choose not to, I must make it clear to you that the ramifications and consequences for UEFA will be very serious indeed, as this verdict will surely be seen as the most egregious act of injustice ever imposed on a football club, which will totally discredit UEFA in the eyes of the overwhelming majority of everyone associated with the game.

Please do not sit back and just wait for the CAS to deliver their verdict. This is your decision, and you can do something about it.

Sincerely,

Jason Smith

100% valid!

Too early for such sensible considerations!
BTW, the Conference League also has its pitfalls and is not always a walk in the park. One of these is the fact that most participating clubs have the opportunity to cover a large part of their budget by collecting points and getting as far as possible, which often leads to physical play and the risk of serious injuries. Playing a club from the English Premier League is also an additional challenge for them.
I remember having grave misgivings drawing Millwall for precisely that reason.

As far as I am concerned, if Forest win the Europa League, their players can throw all their medals into the biggest dustbin they can find, because they’ve done it all by cheating.
(After Brian Clough)

For those saying its ok to be in conference instead, Europa league football is much more attractive to keeping players here and for attracting new ones. Conference not so much.

I believe the Euro courts will overrule, and this is probably UEFA's intent, so its not seen as them making the decision, but by then it could well be too late for Palace to prepare for the season, lose players they might not have, and fail to attract the ones they could have.

...which by the way wouldn't normally place Lyon into the Europa League, but because PSG won both the league and the Champions League, berths were knocked down one place making Lyon qualify on a technicality.

He wont appeal, he hasn't the cojones, the missed email was the mistake and that is down to him, he is the man in charge, he takes the blame, Textor new trouble was waiting, Parish it seems didn't.
Lanzo why are you so negative , the rule is unworkable , badly worded , E.G we know your innocent but the opening sentence says your guilty , there for the rest of the rule doesn't count .
well it does and we have not broken any other part of that rule , than the opening line , if thats the case no european comp can take place as alot of clubs have owners , who own other clubs , blind trust is a fraudulent way to get around the rules , that encourage multi club ownership so is contradicts all of the rule , rules are there tobe challenged and Palace will be going to CAS

How can you be sure

Notable CAS Decisions Overruling UEFA
1. Manchester City – 2020
Issue: UEFA banned City for two years from European competitions for alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP).

CAS Ruling: Overturned the ban, citing insufficient conclusive evidence and time-barred allegations.

Outcome: City was reinstated into the Champions League.

2. FC Barcelona – 2024
Issue: UEFA imposed sanctions related to financial irregularities.

CAS Ruling: Overturned or reduced penalties after reviewing procedural fairness and proportionality.

3. ŠK Slovan Bratislava – 2022
Issue: UEFA disqualified the club over COVID-related match cancellations.

CAS Ruling: Reinstated the club, ruling UEFA’s decision lacked procedural fairness.

4. Football Union of Russia – 2022
Issue: UEFA suspended Russian teams following geopolitical events.

CAS Ruling: While CAS upheld some bans, it overturned others based on competition-specific criteria.

5. FK Bodø/Glimt & Coach Kjetil Knutsen – 2022
Issue: UEFA sanctioned Knutsen for alleged misconduct.

CAS Ruling: Cleared him of wrongdoing, citing lack of evidence.
6. Palace ejected for apparent MCO rule breaches.
CAS ruling : feck em unless they’re French

Did you miss the bit where Forest read the email and requested an extension to get the shares put into a blind trust to comply with UEFA
forest was in top 4 at the time we still at to win 4 games big big difference , and blind trust means owner keeps the shares without others knowing , like holding 1 finger up in front of your face and saying you cant see me

So is that a good way to prepare ourselves?

Did you miss the bit where Forest read the email and requested an extension to get the shares put into a blind trust to comply with UEFA
You obviously also missed the bit where the email was sent to info@CrystalPalace rather than to individual owners and could you explain why requesting an extension is acceptable when the date was March. Forest according to numerous articles didn’t submit until April, but that is apparently ok because they were thinking about doing it in March.

You just love to bash Parish which is not a great look. Being on the Forest side of this argument does not endear you to Palace fans, however you do like to be contrary so perhaps that’s understandable.

It's clear our arguments to CAS are going to be:

1. The punishment is unjust you can overspend gain sporting advantage and get off with a fine, we have gained no such advantage
2. The burden of proof should be on UEFA to prove that we are infact an MCO
3. Other clubs have been allowed to divest interest in the past to allow access into the competition
4. The March 1st deadline was created this season how can any club be expected to create measures when everything is still being decided, the fact UEFA are moving it back shows this exercise has failed, further to this an email was apparently sent sometime in February to point out options that could be taken, there are come clubs that didn't act on this straight away

All in all these should be a solid argument coupled with the MCO issue being solved with irrefutable proof that Textor is no longer involved.
