Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

I’ve come to the conclusion now at page 102 that I no longer give a s***. If we don’t get to play it will just prove to everyone the football world over that UEFA and FIFA really are a gig bucket of s*** and about as corrupt as it gets. It was sickening to listen to infantino waxing over the Saudis beating city. I. Surprised the man can walk with all the cash stuffed in his pockets.

As for us. We all know, everyone in football knows and they f***ing know we are not in the type of multi club ownership they are looking into. Everyone knows Textor had no real power.

And my biggest bug bear is that if they are going to allow multi club ownership then they can’t moan when 2 clubs end up in the same competition. They need to ban this model or find a solution to make it work. Arseholes.

You won’t be surprised to hear that good old UEFA actually permit that to happen - their interest is more in the financials of running a club.

So Marakanis was actually within his rights to communicate with his manager, players etc etc

Crystal Palace considering legal action over possible Europa League ban

Crystal Palace are exasperated at the delay in Uefa's ruling over their Europa League future and feel they are being unfairly treated.

It is not lost on Palace officials that the deal to sell Textor's 43% stake in Palace to American businessman Woody Johnson last week - a transaction worth in the region of £190m - may have contributed to easing Lyon's financial plight.

However I have as much trust in the BBC as a diarrhetic cow not shitting on me if I was standing behind it, so probably just a load of bollocks!
 
If we are offered Conference League then first choice would be to boycott it and not turn up.

That would probably mean that UEFA punish us even more so just said kids and academy players and minimise cost impact.
 
Apologies (it has probably been posted before) but initially i thought this was all going to blow over and was just a lot of noise due to the soccer off season and there not being much to write about. The main reason i believed this to be the case was that Textor only had 25% voting rights so he had no real controlling interest. However, at the time i was not aware of the relevant ruling which was the multi club ownership cut-off date was 1/3/2025 (Why then did Textor feel the need to sell his shares as this has no bearing on Uefa's decision) I don't feel Palace have much of a case as Textor has shares in 2 clubs in the same competition at the relevant date (though why this date was chosen who knows given it was before the European places were decided)
It looks like our only hope is if Lyon's appeal is unsuccessful and they get blocked from playing in Europe but this does not look likely given Textor now has funds ( Is this why is sold his Palace shares ?) to stabilise their financial situation.
Worst case we still get to play in Europe albeit in the lesser competition.
 
If there were early discussions between Textor and the Chairman regarding the shareholding , in view of the possibility of European competition and the March 1st deadline , then whatever transpired thereafter is irrelevant.

If this was not recognised as a risk, and not raised by the Chairman with Textor prior to March 1st that is something else altogether.
 
What I don't get about all this is that Parish must have a document on file stating that Textor only has/had 25% voting rights. Surely if we show UEFA this there isn't a problem!? (or am I seeing it too simply)

You're right, none of it makes any real sense, other than just a desperate attempt by Textor to persuade UEFA that it is in the best interests of the game to let Palace qualify. But Forest will then call foul on that, and would have every right to say: We didn't make these rules, but we didn't break them, either.

Unfortunately, Blitzer's ownership of Brøndby rules out the Conference League, as well.

The crucial turning point was when the CFCB refused to rule in our favour, despite the fact that we can prove we are not an incorporated MCO club. I think UEFA have long been looking to make an example of John Textor for some time, whose mishandling of Lyon's finances has been a major cause of concern for both them and the DNCG. The March 1st deadline does then look like he was being set up to fail. Freeze your shares for a year, which prevents you from selling, or run the risk of disqualification.

It's almost as if Crystal Palace is now the sacrificial lamb that atones for all their sins! They know it is a huge injustice, but that very injustice will propel forwards their agenda, which ironically will probably be something very similar to the limited voting rights that John Textor had over Palace; but that will just turn their shares into the world's most expensive season tickets! In other words, nobody wants to say no to their money, but they all want the power behind that money neutralised. But everyone will agree, with much hang-wringing and solemn piety, that what happened to Crystal Palace must never happen again.

We are starting to see reports of Palace considering legal action against UEFA.

That's entirely logical when you look at how clubs have successfully challenged regulatory rules set by the EPL and UEFA.

All of the Lyon relegation / finances issues should not have any direct bearing on Palace's situation.

I think it boils down to this ;

* UEFA don't think we were MCO compliant come 1/3/25. But if that's the case, then adjudicate on it !
* Palace believe that their Board structure proves that there was not a MCO breach

I think the legal challenge will centre on those points as Palace will think they have provided sufficient evidence that Textor did not have the level of interest that UEFA think he did.

But a further challenge surely must be around the rules themselves and their application. Not fit for purpose.

I have joked about us sticking two fingers up at UEFA but whatever the board decide they need to make sure Glasner and the players are happy. They're likely to prefer the Conference to nothing at all.

I imagine Palace 'leaked' a piece to the BBC (etc) stating their intentions to go legal. They probably want to make it clear to UEFA that if they are going to try and throw us out then they better be prepared for a fight. Woody probably has a few handy lawyers on speed dial.
