add in the additional conference games if we get through and it will be twice as many with a paper thin squad. Maybe a blessing to get knocked out of one of them maybe ?

I don't think Glasner rates Esse and Rak-sakyi, also think he's told Eduoard to find another club. Esse looked fed up tonight i was hoping he would come on and play a blinder. Since being double substituted he doesn't get much play time.

I can sense a definite direction of travel with OG's communications. He is a very skilled operator and the signs do not look great right now.
He was explicit in the afterglow of the cup wins (slightly off topic: I still have to pinch myself writing that. COYP!!!) about getting business done early this time so there are no "false starts" like last year.
This was later watered down to something along the lines of "it happens and we have our targets". Next was "many of our targets have moved but we still have a few left in the drawer".
This week we had "MG and EE will play on Thursday - they are great guys and want to be the ones who gave 100% to the club even if they do leave", progressing to a terse prematch press conference comment "this is the last time I'll answer that question - they are both committed and will both be involved". EE did not play.
Then tonight we had what I think is likely to be the last line in the sand: "MG has to stay". Full transcript from the BBC: "No injured player will come back and we cannot register anyone so we have to keep him. We already rested Chris Richards and Ty Mitchell who had small problems. There is no other chance than keeping Marc for these games. He knows it, everybody knows it. If we want to compete in all of these competitions we need players, that is pretty clear."
Arsenal showed us how to do it with Eze. Fingers crossed we get some transfer traction with some good incoming players this and next week.

Esse was what really worried me tonight. Complete faith in Glasner but if he isn’t bringing Esse on when the opposition has largely shut up shop, we are halfway through four games in 12 days and only using 12 (tired looking) players, when will he?

Glasner is doing a great job for us but does need to lighten up a bit and give Rak-sakyi and Esse a chance, Sarr and Devenny weren't the best tonight and should have been replaced with them imo.
He didn't look in a lighten up mode that is for sure. You are right, apart from the well-saved header, Sarr was pretty careless and Devenny tried in an unaccustomed position but didn't look ready. I think his best role is coming on for Hughes (after his card) if we are looking for a goal (Lerma otherwise)
At the final whistle, Esse was straight down the touchline with a face like thunder. And I don’t blame him.
Last night was perfect chance to get him some minutes and it didn’t happen. Glasner clearly has zero faith in the lad or is trying to teach him a lesson.
Devenny got a lot of flack on the boards last night. Why?
He's not Eze but then most players aren't. I think he did well in an unaccustomed position. It's clear that OG sees him as the new Ayew a utility player who can play in multiple positions. He was fine last night.
We should have scored more goals but we always struggle against teams that Parka de Bus. The players will need to get use to this if we are to progress I suspect that many of the teams we will meet will use the same tactics.
We are still in this tie and I predict if we score 1 more goal we will get through. They need to score 2 and they are at home so we may find more space for our attackers.

Devenny didn't play badly but he seemed to be lacking a bit of confidence whereas Sosa was keen to get involved but he is much more experienced. Oddly it almost had the feel of an England game when we're playing a lower ranked country and struggle to score against a packed defence but overall it was OK: 25 shots (although only 5 on target) and hit the woodwork twice. They were better than I thought they'd be but we should expect to beat them over there. It would've been a more anxious trip if they'd scored on last attack though so hope Richards is back by then.
Parka de Bus Is that a French international?
Any chance we can sign him… great defender and we need bodies

If Esse and JRS can’t even get 5 mins last night then something is seriously wrong. Watching Esse’s body language around Glasner I start to wonder if he is better getting a loan move away for 3-6 months
I will not judge him until he has played against a PL attack but he looked fine last night.

I presume we're all guessing that Eduoard and JRS are the two who have been told to find new clubs. The fact Ahamada doesn't even seem to be being mentioned by Glasner suggests he has no place in the first-team either. If OE and JRS do leave, on top of Eze, then even if Guehi stays we probably need at least 4 players, which is a lot to sign in just 10 days.
I was disappointed Esse didn't get a run out. As much as I love Glasner, behind that gentle persona, I think he's actually quite tough, as seen with the Holding situation. I wonder if there's more to it with Esse and it's perhaps less about football. All speculation of course.

Good left foot by the looks of it, whipped over a couple of good crosses, I think we’ll see him taking a few free kicks on the edge of the area, if he’s playing of course. He reminded me of Alfie Doughty when we played Luton who was excellent against us pinging dangerous crosses over

I think he's got a problem with Esse, you don't sub off your sub in a premier league game unless they're not listening to a word you've said. Wonder if it's an attitude problem as there was absolutely no reason to stick Edouard on instead of Esse or JRS.
