Nketiah?

Does anyone know why Eddie Nketiah wasn't on the bench at Bournemouth ? Hopefully illness or something similar, not another injury. Whatever anyone else thinks of his abilities, he is at least a decent option from the bench, and on Mateta's current form I think there is an argument for giving him a run of starts.

I believe he has a hamstring problem. With Leicester almost certainly going to terminate Edouard's loan deal, we can expect him to be a possible back-up for Mateta.

The press conference for Southampton game was bolted on to the post match Bournemouth conference, and no new information emerged on the likes of Hughes and Nketiah and their availability for Sunday.
I heard Nketiah wasn't involved at Bournemouth owing to sickness, but never saw official confirmation of this.

If he really was ill with food poisoning, norovirus or just a stinking cold ( all 3 in my family) I don't see how he will have recovered in time for anything but a sub appearance.
In the past, come Christmas time there were lots of red carded ill timed tackles and strange illnesses around. Totally coincidental of course.

I noted on Saturday that Sarr took up positions much closer to Mateta frequently on Sunday with the team playing more directly.

On occasions it was almost akin to playing 2 up front.

I don't know if these tactics were just for Southampton, but if we continue in this vein, I can't see why Nketiah can't be an option as well ( i.e to play alongside Mateta rather than either or).

Currently Nketiah is the £25m super-sub, well, not that super but one can hope that he's waiting for his chance. A curious piece of business by the board.
Victims of our own indecision. Chased for years, made obvious we'd pay loads - in the meantime his game time was limited and his potential waning. Two or three years ago and Nketiah would have been a prospect.

I personally don’t think he’s ever been a prospect otherwise he would have eventually become a regular starter at Arsenal, however he never did and yet we still paid top money.

Poor buy in my opinion when we could have bought Elanga, Semenyo, Hudson-Odoi for a lot less.
