Nketiah?

I personally don’t think he’s ever been a prospect otherwise he would have eventually become a regular starter at Arsenal, however he never did and yet we still paid top money.

Poor buy in my opinion when we could have bought Elanga, Semenyo, Hudson-Odoi for a lot less.
It's almost sickening to see those names and know how well we could be doing with any of those players.

Nketiah is 4th highest earning £90k a week and Kamada the highest earning on £105k a week.
They are both equally bad signings. In private industry the person who did these trades would be sacked.
We spent half of the Olise money on Nketiah and have got a dud. My complaint is that Arsenal had been trying to offload him for 2 years and we were the only mugs to show any interest.

But did we not snatch him under the noses of Forest, who were on the verge of signing him??

Some people have a habit of writing off a player after only a few months expecting them to hit the ground running forgetting they are in a new environment, system and with new team mates. They wrote Mateta and Sorloth off and some even Eze. Our injury weakened midfield hasn’t helped create the amount of chances that forwards need so it’s not surprising that EN has struggled. I expect him to play against Stockport in the Cup which should give him some opportunity to hit the net and help his confidence.

I don't know if he's going to work out, but he's barely started as a striker in the PL so to call him a flop is daft. He did get a cracking header in the cup against Arsenal and an assist in the league against Brighton. He's shown he's willing to work hard and now our form is turning around maybe he'll get more chances. Some players respond well to a challenge and hopefully he proves to be one of those players.

I agree. In fairness, JPM is (rightly) hogging his position so Nketiah probably won't come good until JP's form dips or he gets injured. I have to say I'm way more optimistic about Nketiah than Kamada...

I had my doubts about him especially after that miss at Brighton but the header v Arsenal was top notch. Our big man up front will be Sarr once JPM is sold and Nketiah will be our goal mouth poacher

According to those in the know on this forum Jedinak was also useless 😀

Eddie Nketiah - bit part actor at Arsenal, despite earning £100k pw, never getting near to scoring double figure EPL goals. Signs for Crystal Palace who it is said had been chasing his signature for a while, for the sum of £25m with £5m add ons. To date used mainly as a substitute whilst earning circa £90k pw, often replacing main striker J P Mateta late on in games, who earns £50k pw. Zero EPL goals thus far for Eddie. He tries hard though apparently.
I'd be tempted to think that someone f***ed up...

First of all are football clubs not 'private industry'? They're not public sector are they.

Secondly the person who did the trades is presumably Freedman, without whom we almost certainly would have gone down long ago. He's had far more hits than misses and is the reason that every transfer window half of our squad are linked with moves to bigger clubs.

Lastly, I never got the Nketiah move but to write him off this early when he's barely a chance to play up front is naive. Even a year ago, before Mateta started scoring, I happily would have got rid of him and that was after 2/3 seasons at the club. Just goes to show that sometimes players can come good if you have a bit of patience.

I still think Nketiah was bought to replace Mateta, who i think will be sold in the Summer, he is a CF, not an attacking midfielder, winger or second striker, the Header he scored was exceptional, and he is on a five year deal, although he cost 25m that is not a massive amount if he can prove himself, it was the opportunity to buy him at that time, if Mateta does go and we didn't have Nketiah, you wont get anything with a bit of premier league experience for that, look at my OP, his strike rate is pretty good at CF

19 EPL goals in 7 seasons for Arsenal, yeah pretty good ha ha. Slightly better than Edouard's 18 EPL goals in 4 seasons for Palace, and all that with ultra defensive Hodgson as manager. No comparison to Christian "goal machine" Benteke of course.

Refer to the Henderson post last season when everyone was in a lather about Manure pulling our pants down. £20m for a back up keeper!!

Mateta will be sidelined for months with a nasty injury. Or PSG come in with an offer he can't refuse. Either way, Nketiah will get his chance and only then will we see his quality.

He has simply not played enough in his best position to be judged a "flop".

The vast majority of his appearances for Arsenal were from the substitutes bench so perhaps he could be described as a 'Bit-part' player at the club.
On loan at Leeds his goal record was not impressive, however I have no information as to how many games he started under Bielsa.

I have to admit that when I heard the finances involved in relation to his transfer fee my gast was well and truly flabbered. I do hope he justifies the outlay.

He has a better strike rate than Watkins, Rashford, Calvert-lewin, Hjolund, Solanke and Jiminez, have you ever thought of doing a bit of research before spouting your drivel, or are you just naturally asinine
