I think all people think that Glasner is a good manager, and i hope he stays, but he is replaceable, the players are another thing, Eze and Olises replacement's are nowhere their standard, but i never thought they would be, Muñoz is a massive player for Palace, almost impossible to replace, but do we wont him and Mateta leaving for free, or sell while there stock is high, tricky

If we ever find replacements for two of the best players in the world, I will be very surprised. But we did the right thing letting them both go. We had to. These two will both go on to do great things. They already are. Olise could easily be ranked in the top 10 in the world already.
What is so good now is the way we played last Saturday ( and other games building up to it). Ok we lost, but some of our movement and passing in the first half was some of the best I have ever seen by anyone. If we had had any more luck with our finishing, we could have won that. Our teamwork is unreal. And that in my view is down to Glasner.

I disagree.

We went back on his previous assurances to OG that we'd get our business done earlier in the window this summer, and we've gone into the season with an insufficient squad for the volume of games we are due to play.

That's without even getting into the whole Guehi debacle where the club seemed to want to sell the club captain on deadline day.

We have left him short, after specifically promising him we wouldn't do so again, and after he delivered the most successful season in our history.

It does, with little evidence to support it, feel to me as though there's been a lack of consideration around continuing with the 'Palace model' regardless of manager vs perhaps building upon what had been achieved within a short period.

By that I mean to say it all feels a bit "We'll carry on as we intend to Olvier, with or without you" as opposed to making hay when the sun is shining (backing the manager to keep him more than would be typical/have been originally planned).

If that were the case, I wouldn't question the likes of Parish's business sense and longer term intentions for the club, but equally there's an inevitable regret as a fan.

Talk in December about a new manager for the end of the season seems a bit odd and not very Palace.
I find it completely disrespecful to us, Glasner, Frank/Slot/Amorin/Whoever else Glasner is meant to be replacing, that this is being discussed now. It could be unsettling to a quite a few team's seasons. I can't see him at A Liverpool or a Chelsea and I don't think he's a big enough name for Man U. Glasner fits the profile completely as a Chelsea or Spurs flop, done a great job elsewhere, but fails to delivery at a "bigger club"

Hoping this will be similar to Olise in 2023, where we were all expecting the worst, the club called a press conference and we were given the surprising news that he is staying.

IMO it all depends on where we are come the end of January, but his best bet is to renew with us and continue to grow the exiting project we have here. At Palace, there is less weight of expertations, if we finish top 10 with a decent cup run (we're like 1 win away from the latter in 2 competitions), there is little/no pressure to deliver above that

The Guardian is rating the top 100 players in the World currently. Olise is 21st and Eze 56th, and the 8th ranked Arsenal player. Absurdly biased towards the top clubs, Liverpool have 8 in the top 50 and Palace have none in the top 100. I would have thought Munoz would have been worth a call

Ultimately, same as everyone, OG is responsible for his own career.

I think he sees the glass ceiling at Palace and feels that he's virtually there. If we could win the Conference that would be a good time for him to look elsewhere with his stock still high.

I'd prefer him to stay, and to me it feels like the club haven't done enough to build on last seasons success in terms of strengthening the squad.

It's hard not to conclude that he will be on his way at the end of the season. So I hope the media reports about potential managerial targets have some legs. Ideally Parish will have somebody lined up to come in as soon as Glasners contract has expired.

I think this is the case regardless of whether OG is staying or not and Glasner himself will understand the club comes first. Always.
I imagine words to the effect were said 'look Oliver, we really want you to stay and hope we can get something agreed but in the event you dont you have to understand the club cannot be left high and dry because we put all our hopes on you signing a new contract. In view of this we will not be offering your job to anyone because we want you to have it but...we WILL be looking at possible replacements that might be interested. We cannot leave the club exposed to a potential managerless situation.'

Glasner would 100% understand that.

My initial impression was not positive, as he was described as performing miracles on a shoestring budget as Getafe. Thoughts go back to Hodgson eras, where we spent alot less, happy with simply surviving in the PL.

Reading more of the article on BBC by Gulliem Balague, he could be an interesting choice. He obviously gets under the skin of purists in Spain with his direct style of football rather than possession based. But he gets results.

Need to remember on a very limited budget he has got Getafe into Europe. He would get more of budget than he used to at Getafe.

We have almost certainly missed the opportunity to move forward with an elite manager in Glasner, and highly unlikely to attract another elite manager given lack of backing Glasner has had.

Whilst potentially appointing him won't please everyone, it is a results based business.

However I honestly do not think that he will make the step up with his rigid formation and inability to break down teams who will play with a low defensive block.
Top teams will not accept 35percent possession and counter attacking football.
The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.(not unless you’re using a good fertiliser!)

However I honestly do not think that he will make the step up with his rigid formation and inability to break down teams who will play with a low defensive block.
Top teams will not accept 35percent possession and counter attacking football.
The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.(not unless you’re using a good fertiliser!)

He is viewed by many to be in the 'Elite' category due to the fact that he won the 'Europa League' with Eintracht Frankfurt and of course the FA Cup and Community Shield at our club. We have also been riding high in the League this season despite losing Eze and not strengthening our squad to a significant degree.
He is not short of admirers!

Not because he doesn’t feel liked by the fans, players or directors but because many so called bigger clubs will sack their managers. For example, Bayern will expect Kompany to at least reach the Champions League final with the star studded team he has. Alonso at Real Madrid, Slot at Liverpool, Amorim at ManU, Frank at Spurs, Maresca at Chelsea, Howe at Newcastle, are all under-achieving for their ambitious owners and entitled fans. Arteta will be pushed out if he fails to win the League with Arsenal and Pep Guardiola looks fed up and wants a rest. Ollie will be near the top of the list for many of these and we don’t stand a chance.

Of course this brings opportunities. Successful, young, ambitious managers from across the UK and Europe would welcome the opportunity to take over….and of course there is always Jose looking for an opportunity to return to the Premier League!

Of course he is. The man is a winner and he has done it on limited resources. Yes he has his faults. Who doesn't? The point is, if United, Spurs, Chelsea were in need of a manager tomorrow Glasner would be on their list.
