Marc Guehi

Hey all, Liverpool fan here, but came on here to have a look at the opinions of Palace fans about all this nonsense. I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, on the Liverpool forums, or Redcafe, Guehi is of course being slated, Morsy as well.

Fair play to Palace fans for actually supporting their captain and calling out all this woke, virtue signalling, cultural Marxist BS. It seems that to now tolerate LGBT shite it is compulsory to brand yourself with an armband in support of it. It is absolutely ridiculous. This stuff should be nowhere near football. It is the only thing, this and BLM, KickitOut and whatever other political garbage they force on us, that makes me lose a bit of love for football. Sky Sports are a shadow of what they once were as well.

Anyway, just wanted to say big respect to you all. If this was Van Dijk, then the Liverpool fans would be abusing him, calling him this and that.
Thanks for posting on here and not another Palace site which is full of BS.

In two minds about this... I feel that Guehi made whatever point he was trying to make with the first message (and to be clear, if his message is that he's anti-LGBTQ, then he can go f*** himself).

But to have been warned, then done it again, is pretty stupid and may well cause him to miss games. And if that happens it's entirely on Guehi..
I think had Guehi been anti-gay, he would have adopted Morsy's position and not worn the armband at all.

I doubt there's a real issue about gay, lesbian and bi footballers being supported, but I doubt there are many who want to see men transgendering into women being allowed to play in the women's game.

Shame that Liverpool would now support the FA over their own players. I guess that it's indicative of the whole agenda constantly rammed down all of our throats. I don't believe many of the older Liverpool fans would have been keen to accept authority over their own players.
Surely being free to feel however you like and express it could be given to footballers but now the whole game feels immersed in fake, virtue signalling politics. As someone else said, are any of us genuinely to believe that the FA cares about inclusivity whilst being paid off to ensure competitions are in Arab countries? Ludicrous hypocrisy at best, rank corruption at worst.
And to cap it all the Qatar workers were basically slaves. Despite ruling on it and promising, there will be no compensation for them at all. Loads died for fucks sake.
And in the meantime we're supposed to care that a devout religious person wrote I love Jesus on an armband he was likely uncomfortable in wearing. Talk about petty bullshit. He wore the bloody armband.
I seem to remember people feeling they had to wear armbands with insignia or risk being vilified before. Shame absolutely no one in authority seems to be able to see the bizarre double standards and outright bullying going on.
Surely it would be more appropriate for players to do this by choice? Then the club could ask who exactly is comfortable with doing it.
If you are religious, which I'm not, this could be offensive and against that. Obviously too, once again, a Muslim seems to be able to legitimately question this but not a Christian. We see enough of this now and it fits into our new found two tier standard society.
I would also say, that after being to Anfield so many times, how much I enjoy it and I have always had a lot of time for genuine Liverpool fans and people. Yet, I've noticed their replacement by tourists and the diluting of the local aspect of the club. I see tickets have gone up and in true faith I question how many Liverpool locals can afford that. Another aspect of fans losing the game.

It just sucks that the creepy identity politics has even infected football. I have been told on Liverpool forums that I don't really support the club due to my own values. I am a religious, conservative guy. Liverpool is, apparently, a very left leaning place, Labour, socialism, progressive ideologies etc. These are all things with which I disagree. I live in Ireland. I started supporting Liverpool when I was a kid, I had no idea what these things even were. Funnily enough, I was still ignorant of all of this until politics became constantly talked about. Liverpool, after my wife and kids, is pretty much my biggest priority. I take it too seriously as my wife says (cried after the CL final 2022 etc). Sucks to be told those kind of things by fellow supporters. Of course, they don't consider themselves bigots while being intolerant of my beliefs.

Now obviously this is just on the forums, which is a tiny minority of fans, not representative of most Liverpool fans. I have had fantastic days at Anfield and in the pubs before hand. Always a great time.

Ironically I have been to just one Liverpool v Palace game, in 2017, Palace won 1-2! Benteke ffs

By asking the captains to wear an armband supporting a political movement you are forcing them (or outing them) if you like to make a public statement. If they refuse then the FA and the press want to know why, the player then has to comment on something he might not want to get involved with.

At the same time the FA are saying it's fine to demonstrate on this topic because we agree with it but don't you dare voice a different opinion.

Thanks for your post. Go onto the other website BBS, somewhat different opinion but, of course, we are the far right on here. Apologies French Eagke beat me to it.
It is about time all this nonsense is stopped and we can go to football just to watch the game and abuse the rival fans and refs 🤣

“ how s*** must you be, Benteke has scored” just joking we sang that at Highbury.

Didn't Robbie Fowler get fined for showing a t shirt supporting the Liverpool dockers? Obviously that wasn't an officially sanctioned cause.

I don't remember it but you might be right. Was it him that sniffed the line?
I looked up the fine and it was a UEFA one. They had Blatter's expenses to pay and those African and Arab bribes don't pay themselves you know. Anyway it's all in the realms of "Fair Play" isn't it? Except it's more of a circus than a fair these days.

Whether we like it or not football is such a big part of a lot of people’s lives that it’s impossible to separate it from social issues and it’s great that they are trying to promote inclusivity.
It’s interesting that there have been two approaches to this issue, Morsy chose not to wear the armband and seems to be hiding behind his professed beliefs (no idea why Ipswich didn’t pick a different captain for this week), Guéhi wore it but wrote a personal message on it, against a strict interpretation of PL rules but it’s not as if it’s hard to find a rainbow flag or t-shirt with ‘Jesus loves you’ written on it. I’d be interested to hear what gay church groups think about it?

It was and he got walloped for it too.

In order to be properly inclusive, we should really be asking gay Muslim representatives too. I'd say there's widespread condemnation of Morsey throughout homosexual/ something else sexual Islamic community groups too. He's probably been vilified by the press and fans too. Just like Guehi.
Maybe Queers for Palestine would be useful for this.

Hopefully Marc Guehi and Sam Morsey's actions is the start of the eventually eradication of all the stupid virtue signalling that is currently infesting football.

I especially hate the pathetic giving the knee crap (an action associated with Black Lives Matter, an outfit that came into focus because of an event that didn't even happen in this bloody country), and wish more players, like Wilf, had the balls to refuse to do it. I know, a long short, but I can but hope.

I saw someone mention Alex Scott, and I will never forget how at the World Cup Finals she smugly wore a rainbow armband because Harry Kane was thankfully banned from wearing the bloody thing.

I read today on the BBC's website that Manure are ditching the LBGTQ+Whatever jackets they were planning to wear before their next game because one of their players refused to wear it. Fair play to Noussair Mazraoui, and, finally, a part of Manure I don't despise 🙂

Hey , Thank you for your support . Not often i have anything positive to say about Liverpool fans but fair play to you and i hope when you play us on the last day of the season its a title decider and not a relegation decider . 👍
