Parish is in a very tricky position on Guehi.
It’s a question of market forces, and for some mysterious reason it seems only Liverpool have serious interest.
I would contend he wouldn’t be out of place in any of the top clubs with his consistent excellence, but these clubs don’t seem to share that view.
In today’s market Guehi seems an absolute steal at £40 million, and yet Liverpool appear to be haggling with mooted offers of £25-30 million.
And yet they are prepared to offer incremental £10 million figures to secure Isac (latest offer reputedly £120 million).
On an emotional level I would like Parish to tell Liverpool to put up or shut up.
However, Liverpool seem to be the only bidder and seem to have the view that Parish will eventually cave in and sell Guehi for well below market value to at least realise some value for him.
The last minute nature of this puts further pressure on on Parish in terms of organising a replacement too.
Worst case scenario is that he relents, takes Liverpool’s best offer and then has to compromise on a replacement who may not be a preferred choice or up to the task.
