Marc Guéhi

I just don’t get this at all. He is under a contract that he signed. We don’t owe him his dream move this year, but he doesn’t owe us signing new one so he can do what he wants next year.
It’s just typical big club fan mentality. We owe them and should be grateful they’re buying him is their thinking. Morons most of them basically.

Yes we won FA Cup so what it's a team sport we didn't win it because of just him and he went off in the final we had no issue with him off.

You don't know he didn't want to go to Newcastle or Spurs it was the club who refused wanting more.

Even with Chelsea cut that is lot of money still and it was 35m with 5 addon (not sure how you have gotten that 3.5m figure for chelsea it's profit %)

Yes I always wanted him sold as soon as he refused to renew his contract 2 years ago I knew we had to cash in on him when he was hyped that is massive money for Palace.

Already answered we didn't win because of one player if anything Hendo has done far more.
In his post match interview after the Cimmunity Shield Steve Parish said there had been offers for Guehi "but the player didn't want to go".

So we do know he didn't want to go to Newcastle or spurs.

Well, we know what Parish said. The obvious question to him would be "Then why did you remain in negotiations with Newcastle so long?"

Yes, until the window closed. Now we can negotiate on different terms.
How can we negotiate different terms? Nothing has changed for Guehi other than the disappointment of not getting his move now. He will simply plod along until it comes time to move whether that be January or July next year. His reward will come from being a free agent and being able to negotiate a large signing on fee and a much increased salary with whoever he wants.

It would appear he has made his mind up that he is not interested in assisting Palace by extending his contract regardless of how attractive that new contract is made. You cannot negotiate if the other party does not want to negotiate.

Any money for him in January is not necessarily going to materialise as we can’t force him to leave and there is no guarantee that Liverpool will require him at that point anyway as Gomez has returned to fitness and the youngster they have bought may be ready to help out if needed. Guehi is really the replacement for Konate when he himself leaves on a free at season end.

From a Palace perspective they have pretty much screwed themself and they will have to accept they may not get any money for him unless Liverpool pick up an early season injury that forces them into a January transfer or they decide they desperately need him before next season.

It’s a wholly unsatisfactory situation in that the move for Guehi came so close to happening that he can’t fail to have had his mindset changed (no matter how professional he appears to be on the outside). Our hope is that he continues to apply himself 100% to the Palace cause despite the disappointment he has faced otherwise the loss of £35m-£40m will be even more keenly felt.

And you personally know this do you? To me it's a win win or are you a Scouser in disguise?
OG said don’t sell Marc unless we have a replacement in. Parish was trying to let him go without a replacement and OG step in a stop that from happening. Ignoring that important part sounds like you’re a scouser in disguise did you want Marc to leave without a replacement then?

I said I wasn’t going to give my view on this window until it was over. So I’ll leave that for tomorrow when the picture is clearer.

To take your other points ;

“ No strategy, no plan “ I’m interested to know what yours would have been . Me, I would have wanted to add some players to the squad. We added four. I believe Glasner said he wanted four or five so that was delivered.

The UEFA saga - presumably then you would have just thrown the towel in as soon as it became an issue. Maybe you thought that we were part of a MCO ?? I don’t think Parish could win in that situation - he would either be adjudged as not having the character to challenge them or , as you have, said it was a waste of time.

“ Dancing around the transfer budget “ - if you haven’t realised by now that Palace is a tightly run ship then maybe that’s where that hole in your head is. I don’t claim to be an expert in the clubs finances but I do know that despite consistently losing money the club is considered to be financially stable.

I’ve already provided my view on why we could be dependent on incoming transfer revenue and I think you just choose to ignore it so I won’t bore you with a repeat.

I see little evidence on here that people are “ blinded “ when it comes to Parish. I think he’s made a pigs ear of the Guehi situation but guess what - he ain’t perfect. There are a lot of moving parts to transfers and it’s not difficult to end up in a less than optimal situation. But yes, I think he could have done better during this process.

Anyway, congratulations are due to you for predicting Parish’s procrastination. Maybe now you could stop reminding us on such a regular basis.
On your last point no thanks. Maybe stop making excuses for some rich bloke who doesn’t even care about progress or improving just want to want to stay in the prem and that’s good enough you and a few others might be happy with average and not improving, sports in general it’s about winning simple as really

You mean like winning the last two domestic finals and being unbeaten in 14 games, a club record in the top flight?

The window is done, you do you but I’m going to behind the club, chairman, manager and captain.

The repeated story about losing out on £35m this time round is a misnomer. As we have seen, over the last two seasons Palace has turned into a big time selling club, out of necessity one assumes. Olise, Eze, and an attempt to sell Guehi has brought needed funds into the coffers.
Now that Parish has ££££ signs in his eyes expect other Palace players to be up for grabs, Wharton, Mateta, and Munoz will likely be targets for other clubs.
Holding onto quality players and building a squad long enough to have an impact in the league has always been a problem for the club, therefore I'd say Glasner has done exceptionally well. How far he can take it we will have to wait and see.
I pleased that MG is still a Palace player, at the end of the season he will be free of any contractual obligation and be a free agent to do as he pleases.

So why wasn’t he sold then?
Apparently Palace were asked to confirm the deal to the FA by email, prior to the deadline, but it must have gone to the wrong address. 🙂 These things happen

Right Guehi staying tick 4 new signings tick , may have lost about 30m x ,

I look at it from another angle , plus side , with Guehi staying we could pick up another trophy or even 2 ,
plus side , more revenue which would out weigh the loss and may show a nice profit , plus side , help the kid we brought who could be a replacement when he goes or if he goes , plus side we can maybe get him to stay on if things are going well in the league ,

should all this already been in place ideal world yes , but its been crap from the second we lifted the trophy , Arsenal could have brought Eze earlier for the same money , Liverpool could have brought Guehi earlier for 35 plus add ons , both players looked like they was staying after chelsea game , UEFA dragging there heals , so on and so on , at the end of it not the worse window we have had

Fk the dippers, they offered pittance and even then tried to bend it further. Thieving bastards, hope we sell in January somewhere else.

"Dream move". Fk off, pay up then Scouse wankers

How do we not know that Igor was the player that Glasner was happy with, he would certainly know him as Igor played in Germany and Austria at the time Glasner was managing their, and when the transfer broke down, Parish honoured a promise to Glasner that he wouldn't be sold with no replacement, everyone is guessing what happened, all i know for certain is i am happy Guehi is still a Palace player

Are you even capable of properly reading and understanding what other people write on here ?

Evidence points to a ' no '

One hopes that Guehi gets to read Henry Winter's balanced yet sublime appraisalScreenshot 2025-09-02 at 08.18.52.webp:

A couple of nasty injuries to both Liverpool centre half’s between now and January and Guehi will be worth £60m again. Two can play at that game.
