Marc Guéhi

One hopes that Guehi gets to read Henry Winter's balanced yet sublime appraisalView attachment 1924:
I wish I knew what is going through Guehi’s mind at this time. I’m sure if Parish had said to him we want you to stay until contract ends then I’m sure he would have said no problem. Similarly, when Parish said, given that you won’t sign a new contract we need to sell you he probably said no problem. However, we have made a hash of it by not lining up a replacement when the sale decision had been made and had to let him down.

Will he have an issue with this contrary behaviour or will he just carry on as normal as per Henry Winter’s appraisal of him? Of course, he may be totally ambivalent to it all and just wants to play football regularly in an international selection year. We, totally hope this is the case and that he holds no malice to the Palace hierarchy. He’s too important to us for that to happen.

Think Guehi staying for a while longer is the best thing since sliced bread , I’m happy to roll with it and see it as a positive , We haven’t lost anything ATM and there’s bound to be some twists and turns before the fat lady sings , £28 million is a p*ss take and glad we turned it down , Worth every penny to see the scousers crying online like spoilt babies ..

I stopped reading. It's as if him fulfilling a contract he signed is worthy of praise just because other players are total shits. Anger should be pointed at the scousers, they lowballed and took brinkmanship on this to the extreme and if they really wanted or needed him so bad they'd have forked out, just like they've been happy to pay crazy money for all these others they've jizzed out cash on.

Winter should have sympathy for us being bullied by this massive vile club. I hope we tout him out in January and let LiVARpool cry as they have to compete with others

When we play West Ham - Igor, Igor give us a wave Igor, Igor give us a wave chant. And we don't stop until he waves! 🤣

A friend of mine who works at the club has Marc's personal mobile number and was due to send him a congrats text, not knowing the deal was off.........awkward!!!🤣
I said to him, whatever you do don't mention Igor.

Well, we do have less money in the ATM

In what way ?
The money was going to be spent on a Centre back replacement , We still have a Centre back worth £70/90 million currently ..
As I said there’s still twists and turns to come before Guehi leaves , With Guehi we will possibly have longer cup runs in Europe and domestic cups also finish higher in the league which will all chip away at the paltry £28 million that Palace would get after paying Chelsea ..
I’m staying positive until something negative happens , Life’s to short to worry about what hasn’t happened yet ..
Best season ever last year and so far this year we have won a cup , Played in Europe and had a great start , I’m engulfing it ..

Liverpool only have themselves to blame…. If they’d met the £40m asking price at the start of August, he’d be gone. They held out thinking they had us over a barrel, only getting up to £35m on the last day. They have lost out on one of the best centre backs in the league for the sake of £5m - small change when spread over the length of the contract. Our gain, their loss.

I still expect Guehi to be sold in January… against the odds we might even plan for it! Hopefully other clubs, such as from Europe, will compete for his signature so that Liverpool can’t low ball us. Potentially giving up £35m to keep Guehi was ultimately a brave call by Parish for a small club like Palace… even if he had to be strong armed by Glasner, few Chairmen take heed of their managers.

Im hoping we have a grown up meeting with MG to discuss his financial/career wishes and the implications of those for CPFC. Assuming our new board supports things we should be able to find a positive solution moving forwards for both parties.
In the meantime, we have got a very interesting squad with some new acquisitions and we've still got our captain and world class defender who showed us he can score incredible goals.
With Glasner at the helm, we showed yet again (against Villa) we are quite capable of beating top opposition and I believe being in the top third of the table.
Once OG has worked out his best options with available players we should be on track to continue our phenomenal performances on the pitch.

I think this has been ongoing and happening since at least the Newcastle bids last January, if not longer than that.

Until yesterday, MG was very happy at Palace. At the same time he wants to progress his career. He would see Liverpool as that sort of progression. The fact he has not yet signed any sort of contract extension (like Olise did) shows he is unlikely to want to sign a new contract, even if to protect the club's position. In my head he has every right to do this.

I emphasize "until yesterday", because all this may still be the case but equally he must be devastated the move broke down. I'd be amazed if the chairman had not given his word to make the move happen. I'd be amazed if he had not said goodbyes to the manager and at least some of the players. He had even shot leaving video social media if the leaked footage is authentic. So I very much much doubt he will be as indifferent as he seemed to be after the Newcastle interest came to nothing.

Let's hope we can get a stoic, high quality set of performances from the captain between now and January, and maybe now and the end of the season.
