Marc Guéhi

Amateurville again. Balls up the Europa League conditions and then don't get a Guehi replacement in early. I really wouldn't blame Ollie for leaving. Back the gaffer Steve!!!

Looks like he's gone. Quite disappointed in MG to be honest. He was completely committed up until yesterday and now he's off. I understand why he's leaving but he must have known yesterday and didn't even make any gesture to the fans at the end of the match.
He's pretty much held us to ransom as explained on SSN as he has more than likely stated that he will not sign a new contract so the we've had to accept an offer rather than losing him for nothing at the end of the season. 35mil is absolute robbery when you look at the amount players are going for now.
Hoping that we get in Pavlovic from AC Milan as his replacement as Igor Julio is not gonna be a good replacement.

I will wait until the end of the window to reserve judgement because I cannot believe that Steve Parish would be stupid enough to take one of the best defenders in our history, flog him for 35m on deadline day and replace him with a 19 year old and a Brighton cast off who has a name that wouldn't be out of place in Count Duckula.

Especially so given the potential risk to the future of our manager who we need to retain at all costs.

Perhaps we are working on a deal for this bloke from Milan because, if not, there are going to be questions to answer. Given the prize money available from European competition and the fact each place in the league is worth 2-3 million quid, it's not going to take much for that fee to be swallowed up by our season unravelling.

GLASNER WON THE FA CUP NOT PARISH. ALL THE BLAME IS ON PARISH
What are you blaming him for exactly?
Selling a player - who didn't want to sign a new contract - 8 months before he goes for free.
Sure be sad about it but why the anger?
OG seems a thoroughly decent chap and I'm sure he'll do what he wants to do. I hope he stays as he's the best we've ever had.

I am not sure this is the best outcome for the club. And the manager is 100% right to be p1ssed off this wasn't sorted out ages ago.

If this move does go ahead and we lose MG immediately, then the squad looks very inexperienced all of a sudden.

Ward retired last year; Eze and now the captain and lynchpin MG will have moved on in a few months.

Apart from Hughes (you could argue Clyne, Lerma and Mitchell) there is precious little league experience.

I hope this does not become a problem if we go on a rough trot of results because it can no longer be fixed outside transfer windows.

Umm selling Marc now with 3 hours left in the window, letting the situation get this far, if he was going to sell should have sold him earlier, OG doesn’t want him to go but selling him anyway shall I continue?

Sensible post Mr P.
I seriously doubt whether Marc going now (or January/next Summer) will have any effect on whether Ollie G stays or not. OG will be off at the end of his contract either way and at least we’ll have had £35m in to get a replacement for Marc.
Well he certainly will be now !

Understand that Marc Guehi informed Crystal Palace of his desire to join Liverpool ahead of the transfer deadline after yesterday’s win at Aston Villa. Liverpool have been waiting for the green light from Palace to proceed with medical and formalities all day

How could he know? He was under contract. If Parish hadn't signed him off he would still be here. Honouring your contract is hardly holding the club to ransom. The club have known his intentions for ages so had plenty of time to prepare for it

BBC reporting the deal has just been done

EDIT (BBC now edited to IF the deal goes through)

Pantwetting has reached epidemic proportions.
We'd all have loved Marc to stay but he was off for free in the summer. Can't blame Parish - other than leaving it until the last day - but even that's not entirely in his hands. If he'd splashed out on Akanji and Guehi had stayed then he'd be cast as a financial clown. The bloke can't win.
WE WON THE FA CUP!!
Yes and all over the forum.

When the dust settles, let's see who we did manage to bring in and whether any of the CB additions (assuming there are any) meet Glasner's approval.

As for Marc - a rare class act who showed his best last night knowing that in less than 24 hours there was a good chance he'd be a Liverpool player and yet he puts in a POTM performance capped off with probably the best goal he's ever scored.

He has done us proud through his 4 year tenure with us. He leaves with my best wishes (except when playing against Palace, off course).

The wisdom of this sale will be revealed at the end of the season. They way it's played out has been a farce, but if we still advance as a club then we can't criticise.

If we end up going backwards, then perhaps it's time for a new leadership and new investors.

The big culprit here is the league and it's ridiculous financial rules.
In the last 2 summer windows, we lost Zaha and Olise, then went on to be a better team. There is no doubt Glasner and Parish did everything they could to convince Guehi to stay, but he was determined to leave. Yes, we could of make him honour his contract, but that never works out well.
Guehi wants to leave, Parish didn't want to sell him, but financial sense takes over emotion, it's better for the club to get £35m, than nothing.
Blaming Parish and the board is pointless, it's Guehi if anyone to blame, he didn't want to stay, but further his career and win major honours.
Liverpool will have spent £450m this window, how is that right?
