Main Stand redevelopment thread

in no particular order here are the options:

The Jim Cannon Stand
The Ian Wright Stand
The Jerk Chicken Stand
The Enormous Victorian Chandelier (Stand)
The About Bloody Time Stand
The Goodbye Hideous Cattle Shed Stand

It won't be the Steve Parrish Stand - that would be too egostistical for our humble and gracious leader.
I think the Fiona Richmond stand has a certain ring to it.

I work in Planning as a Consultant. There are all sorts of Conditions placed on developments that can be by-passed by placing funds into various Council departments to off-set problems.
Look at developments where a % of them is required to be affordable. It is standard practice to forgo the affordable element and put appropriate funds into Councils Housing funds.
These Council Houses , methinks, are being used as a smoke screen from the real issues delaying development,
What do you think the real issue is?

It's ridiculous that the way it's going Manchester United will be able to build a brand new stadium before we even complete 1 stand.

I really hope with this new group of people coming in to the club we will stop this nonsense and do what we should have done many years ago pay the right people to push through what we really need a new stadium which is minimum 40 thousand and can be expanded.

Pay the right people off you an do what you like look how easy United have just done it.

What new group of people coming into the club?

Lets see, they might be in the Championship by then at this rate!

Only United are expecting the tax payer to front all the infrastructure around the stadium whereas Palace have had to convince Sadiq Khan to approve it by relocating all local residents as well as new pavements, signage, traffic lights, etc all covered by the club. United are skint. Unless they get a massive injection of outside cash they are not building a new stadium any time soon.

And where do you suggest the amount of available land might be? Utd new ground will take 10 years to complete.

Update. It may have passed you all by but there are planning notices on the lamp posts around the ground relating to the Permissions already granted. There are changes proposed to the Holmesdale Road Stand expanding the south west corner to accommodate better access to both stands, underground VIP parking and wider vehicular access. The current car park is to have a larger Fan Zone. There will be a new disabled fan area at the Whitehorse Lane end and seating installed between the Holmesdale Road and Arthur Wait Stands. The television gantry is to be removed.

The application for the changes were only submitted at the end of January so it may be a while before they are approved. Knowing the way Croydon Council thinks I suspect they will delay matters until 2000 bicycle racks have been added to the plans!!!

On the positive side it looks as if most of the issues regarding Wooderson Close have been resolved. I suspect this will be the first major change we will see as demolition will enable construction equiptment to access the site without interfering in Sainsbury’s business.

Thank you. This is good news. Would there be any possibility of reproductions of the notices being displayed in a place that does not restrict matchday movement too much - the exit of the fanzone springs to mind?
