Main Stand redevelopment thread

Let's be honest, the whole thing is always 'It'll start next year'

I don't think it will happen to be honest, Harris and Blitzer are more interested in their NFL team, Textor wants out. Depending on who you believe they've been sniffing round buying Chelsea and Everton in recent years, and owning Palace gets in the way of that, so I can't see them putting up £100m+ (or at least providing the security)

Our ground is more or less on a par with Portsmouth and Charlton's in reality, and the club is always one relegation and a couple of seasons in the Championship away from being back to circa 15k crowds anyway.

Did the Stadium Tour this month. Current enabling works are under the Holmesdale Stand. adequate space for 3,000 cars but flooded. Water being drained away to give dressing room space for away team and other things. seeing diggers etc next summer seems realistic.

We need a new stand. The club will not remain in the top tier without more revenue. It's that simple.
Not building it is not an option.

What did it say?

"Stadium depends on a few things! I think there's a good chance it'll actually start in the summer but it's complicated. Will become clearer in the next month or so I think. I hope to finish a piece I've been working on for a year that is related to it but it's hard to find the time. The one thing I'd say is that I have consistently been certain that they'll redevelop Selhurst. I'm slightly less certain than I have been, again for several reasons which I will hopefully be able to clear up soon"
"I've probably inadvertently made things more confusing than I'd intended.... Do I think Selhurst will be redeveloped still? Yes. Are there still things that need to happen before it can be? Yes. Not least replacing the homes they're knocking down like for like in Croydon. It's possible that the timeline could slip further. These things are rarely as straightforward as anyone would hope."

Thanks.

I'm sure that the process is moving as quickly as it can.

Parish says we are getting a stadium to be proud of. So I take it we are also redeveloping the Arthur.
He did say a while back that there are feasible options to developing the Whitehorse, Arthur and even Holmesdale to the same spec as the new Main stand but pointed out the obvious (how long its taken just to get this far with the Main Stand. He suggested this stand will be his legacy and while we'd all love the work to be completed and continued I'd imagine when looking and redeveloping more stands it will be someone else that picks up the baton and runs with it.

Bit negative. While you are right about our stadium's level of quality the big difference between Palace and Pompy/Clowns is we are in the top division pulling in £120m+ a year and currently have the planning permission as well as the resources to upgrade to something the other two can currently only dream of. Whereas One of those is scratching a living in League 1, the other is precariously close to dropping back there.
As for being a relegation and 2 seasons away from 15k crowds? You are right about that too but that also applies to at least 10 other clubs in the division. Look at Leeds right now. Supposedly a 'massive club' They are near the top of the Championship. A pal of mine who lives up that way tells me their attendance for a home game a couple of weeks ago was just 17,000. It doesn't matter who you are. If you get relegated people lose interest. Thats life. You cant spend your life frightened of ever bettering yourself for fear of what might go wrong.
