Loaned-Out Players

no, and as pssguy mentioned, we (probably correctly) extended his contract.

So instead of being rid of him in the summer, we're going to have to pay him for another year
I imagine the plan was Edouard goes on loan, gets some games and some sale value. If he did well maybe we hoped Leicester might make the deal permanent. Meanwhile Nketiah was supposed to give us depth up front and potentially challenge JPM for the starting spot. Obviously the plan hasn’t worked as neither Nketiah nor Edouard have shown anything yet this season.

Whats the best thing to do. Let him stay there and develop.

Or bring him home?

At this precise moment he'd get games, but will he when Eze is back? And if he does it's going to be a few here and there, either to give Eze a rest or as a plan B.
Different position.

Eze and JRS would compliment each other.

It would have to be Sarr who stands aside.

Agreed. Furthermore, JRS and the club are probably best served by his remaining at The Blades. Once we have our injured players back (and in January possibly Edouard and Ahamada as they're getting zero time where they are) we'll have cover for the rest of the season even if no new attacking players are brought in during the January window (we MUST get a LWB though).

Definitely.

We can recall him but I'm not sure that is the right thing to do.

Wilder is starting him for about 60 mins then subbing him most games. However I doubt he would get that at Palace more likely coming on at 70 minutes for a cameo.

I would leave him there for this season he is clearly enjoying his football and learning.
i've watched JRS a fair bit on TV and have a couple of Sheffield mates.

I think it's fair to say he's regarded as a bit of a luxury player who has moments of genius. Playing for a decent championship club is probably better than coming on for 20 minutes when we are 1 nil down.

At sheffield, as has been mentioned, he never completes a 90 minutes and is often subbed on the hour (part of this was due to managing his injury/fitness is the early weeks of the season).

On Saturday Sheffield were battered in the 1st half but led 2-1 due to JRS's assist and excellent finish. Fantastic yes, but he was subbed at HT as they had just had a man sent off.

Yesterday he was subbed again on the hour mark despite having just scored - however, i think this was more to rest him as the game was won.

He is clearly now finding his feet after a slow start (not dissimilar to his time at Charlton) and is contributing to the team now. I would think it would be better to leave him where he is, however, if we get to the end of January without any right sided signings i would not object to a recall.

I don’t rate JRS. He’ll do ok at Championship level but won’t do anything for us in the Premier League.
For me he falls into the Dwight Gayle category, only JRS is not quite as good.

This was supposed said by Glasner before being taken down.
If true it suggests that it could be difficult for JRS to make a breakthrough at Palace under Glasner.
There doesn't seem to be a meeting of the minds and it may explain why JRS seemed so keen to move in the summer.
It makes you wonder why we didn't let him make a permanent move in the summer.
Perhaps it was thought a good season in the Championship may either increase his value or perhaps be included in our squad next season.
For my part I've watched some Sheffield United games this season and JRS usually does a couple of things in a game which make you sit up and take notice, but he's anonymous out of possession which is something a manager is not inclined to tolerate these days.

I wonder if JRS may end up as a striker. He is a good finisher but when played out wide he often seems positionally naïve and disappears from games. I don't see him making it at PL level but if he keeps scoring and assisting for Sheff Utd his value will only go up.

I also read that article with OG's comments, and it surprised me that he was so candid. It suggests the relationship might not be that great, but who knows? I remember similar issues when Roy wouldn't let him leave on loan.

It's really not that much of a question of if he's that good or not. He's better than Kamada, perhaps as good as Sarr and better than Nketiah out wide. Not saying a lot but if he's better than what we've got, then he should be in the squad. I don't see why Glasner chose to call him out on anything.
Why shouldn't he want a move if he never got played? His whole career stagnating while he watches duffers shoe-horned into his position. Put yourself in the mind of a young player.
In my opinion Glasner didn't do himself any favours there.

I think he is a wide player. His best asset is the ability to beat a man on the edge of the area and get a pretty hard shot away. He may not be an ideal fit for Glasner's system but the manager did seem over harsh. I can't see them both being at the club next season

I am borrowing a post from another site.

"If JRS was not a Palace player would we be talking about signing him for the first team". I think the answer to that is no. He still needs to go up a level in my opinion.

I find that pretty irrelevant - he was already here and is better than what we have.
I could put the same thing another way. Would we now sign Kamada, Schlupp, Nketiah, Ward, Clyne, Franca - and they're in our team?
Again, if he's better than what we have, that's all that matters. And he's clearly good enough to be back up. He's more rated than Agbinone or Devenny for example.

I’ve seen a lot of JRS; whilst on loan at Charlton, with Palace and also this season at SUFC. About half in person and the other half on tv. During that time I’ve seen nothing to suggest that he is better than Sarr, Nketiah or even Kamada. I think it is fair to say that if he was better than any one of those three then he would be here in the squad and not on loan in the Championship.

Then our opinions differ, as I believe he's quite an average player with the odd moment. He can score and create - which is his role. He can't really track back, he has pace. In and out of games - similar to Sarr.
Kamada and Nketiah can't play out wide, or even attacking midfield - yet keep on being played there. Who else do we have that should be back up to Sarr? If Rak-Sakyi were part of the squad are you saying you'd bring Nketiah or Kamada on to replace Sarr (or even Clyne)?
Think about it: he's a genuinely decent back up to Sarr and arguably could push him for his place.
I believe his record in the championship at the end of the season will speak for itself anyway, if it doesn't already. And don't forget his underage record. Off the scale.

Latest on Ozoh injuries from Derby team news prior to today's visit by Wednesday:

"Midfielder David Ozoh will not feature despite stepping up his workload to return to training this week, following hamstring and quad injuries that have seen him sidelined since September. He is yet to return to full training with the group."

Ahamada not in Rennes squad, Ebiowei not in Oxfords squad & Edouard not in Leicesters squad.

Goodman, Whitworth, JRS, Imray, Wells-Morrison all started for their respective clubs, think I may have missed out someone. I did, Trialist B, unused sub.

Roshaun Mathurin? Been on the bench for Hartlepool for the last 4 games. (Looked it up - not Willoish knowledge).
