Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace League Cup match thread

Hats off to Yeremy Pino for his overall contribution and the sublime finish for the goal.
He just needs to improve his decision making in respect of making tackles !
Yes, he will be racking up yellows and miss games, I understand his enthusiasm but at this level clear thinking is required

Just been listening to the match post mortem on Radio 5 Live. What a terrible programme! All they could talk about was the problems that Liverpool have had with injuries and Slot's team selection sob sob blah blah blah. It sounded like Palace weren't even there, and that we didn't win it but rather it was Liverpool that lost it. After 30 mind numbing minutes of analysis of Liverpool's problems the so called experts gave Palace the briefest of mentions, 20 seconds and I am being generous. Never listening to that lot again.
I did listen and Stephen Warnock was critical of what Slot said in his post match interview.

ok weaker Liverpool team including bench they spent 400m and cant field a stronger team not want you spend its how you spend it , right thats out the way .

we wasnt sure about them 1st 15 then we slowly took control men against boys , the passing was more clinical which was missing against arse regardless who we are playing , and good finishing ,

Pino getting better but , as said needs to learn how to control his tackling cost us sunday and lucky it wasnt a red card also Im sure I see him dive in to win the ball recklessly as well , but couple of slaps around the head and he will learn , Sosa looked alittle better , Canvot looking young think he was frighted of making a mistake , show him Guehi ducking to let brighton get a late equalizer when he first come ,
all in all a good win , arse wont scare us , 3-0 cup result sounds familiar to COYP

Strange
Last night I was dreaming of a bigger trophy cabinet at Selhurst, and this morning I have awoken with wood. 😁🫢👍
Well done to all those who made the trip.
Even our substitutes and reserves are on fire 🔥. OG is God.

Great result but odd game. For the first 30 mins our defence coped well with a poor Liverpool attack. Then Kamada and Pino woke up and decided that we could win this game. After that it was joyous to be hold as our front players were as good as our defence.

Very odd selection by Slott but who cares not our problem. Let's just hope that Arteta has the same idea, "it's only Palace lads, put out the B team."

Some great goals and hopefully our front players are now full of confidence. Looking forward to Brentford now I am a bit more positive.

5live this morning was decent, had two podcast fanzines on to interview for a fair balanced opinion. HLTCO was on. About 6:30am.

That's really annoying. Felt he was just getting going for us and starting to positively contribute. Hopefully it's not too bad as he didn't have to pull up or anything. Glasner needs to just take a gamble and chuck Uche on up top for 20 mins now to give Mateta a break as he's gonna be absolutely shattered with all the upcoming games. If I was gonna be critical I'd have said it would have been better to bring Uche on at HT yesterday just to give him some more practice in that position.

hes left back never played on right before interesting the manager has 0 faith in clyne.
Cardines is as a right wing back - he was brought into the senior team as cover and hopefully an eventual replacement for Munoz. He came on for Munoz briefly at the end of the Kiev game. We should see quite a bit more of him in future games.

Clyne, besides being 34, is not a wing back. His contract was extended one more year to provide some extra cover for central defence (esp.before Canvot was signed).

I'm delighted we've gone through, but the win for me is slightly tainted by the weak team Liverpool played.
You can only play what's in front of you and we put in a professional performance, but there's a feeling Liverpool almost threw the game with their team selection.
All I can say to this is Mitchell, Mateta, Wharton, Richards, Henderson.
So they rested four or five first teasers. All about squad depth!!!. Yeah right, what did the scousers spend in the summer £400M?
Nah, all about management and team spirit.
What were our fans singing? Something like 'wish we played you every week' 🤣
We hammered the scousers at Anfield. Never thought I would ever say that!!!
Completely outwitted them and outplayed them. Heaven.

Slot is being found out as a fraud. He won the title last year with basically Klopp's team, now he has brought in his players at great expense and can't blend together a winning team.
It's not about how much money you can spend on players, but getting a team spirit and winning mentality, which Glasner appears to do with ease.
