Labour Party politics

I’m hoping Angela Rayner ends up having to resign as a cabinet minister, which would make mortgage payments a bit difficult at some point. Of course that won’t happen. It should.
I’m desperately trying to find the qualifications she has to be Deputy Prime Minister (and by default, Prime Minister, if Starmergate leads to his demise). Can anybody find what qualifies her to be in the Cabinet?

As bad as it is for everyone in England right now I am enjoying watching Labour go extinct.
It took the Tories decades to become this toxic 😂
Trouble is they are a bit like the IRA in that you think they are finished and then they creep back in some other guise.

Who is your favoured political party? Jeremy Corbyn’s party with no name? So useless they couldn’t create a name. ‘Britain Last’ would be appropriate.

‘Following the revelation, the Tories lodged a formal request on Friday for an investigation into whether the Deputy Prime Minister broke the ministerial code in her purchase of the £800,000 second home.

The move comes after an outcry over claims that Ms Rayner avoided £40,000 in stamp duty by telling the taxman that the luxury property in Hove was her main home while telling the Cabinet Office that her primary residence was her family home 260 miles away in Greater Manchester - all while living during the week in a lavish grace-and-favour apartment in central London, funded by the taxpayer.

Ms Rayner is thought to have paid around £30,000 in stamp duty on the Hove apartment.

But she would have had to pay £70,000 if the flat had been considered a second home because of a punitive tax regime designed to discourage holiday home purchases, which was extended by Rachel Reeves last year.

A spokesman for the Deputy Prime Minister previously said she had paid her taxes in full and done nothing wrong.’

Yeah right. Shes blatantly avoiding paying £40,000 tax just a few years after having a go at Tories and 2nd property owners and shouting ‘’Tory scum’’ on a live TV debating show.

She’s just another hypocrite. Her and her double standards party and government should use a new motto at their next party conference. ‘Do as I say, not as I do’. No wonder her constituency are switching to Reform in huge numbers. As long as they keep dismissing this trend it’ll be over in one term.

It was known over 8 months ago Reform were predicted to wipe out Labour oop North where Rayner and co are meant to represent. Instead she’s relocating to Hove to represent middle class liberal voters. Shame she can’t make it another 100 yards out to sea.

If she is after a seat in Brighton she will get in no problem.

Sure but there must be other constituencies in commuting distant of her 2nd or is it 3rd home I forget. 😀
Yes but Hove is the nicest option… and down South. Out of London and out of the North. The working class hero dodging housing taxes whilst housing minister and telling people what they should and shouldn’t be doing after shouting her disgust at them. Good for her.

They are screwed any which way to Sunday.

And I'm not saying that with an ulterior motive like Wisbech had for arguing for Reform and keeping the Tories centralist.....because he thought that Reform would never overtake the Tories.

I've always argued for parties that reflect their bases on this forum as the 'uniparty' criticism of the establishment and the recognition that the civil service and non democratic power bases are too powerful (thanks to Blair) has been real for a long time......People are fed up with being lied to about what matters to them and then when a party gets into power they either do the opposite or just do nothing.

I've maintained that this uniparty aspect has to go and that's for both left and right parties. So I think the emergence of more parties to do this is a strict positive.

The fact that Reform emerged years ago is the reason they are now in the lead. The right had the balls to do this and I remember activists on the left cheering it on......If the left had balls instead of cheap words they would have had their own Reform version years ago as well........and thus reaping those same rewards Reform are now....instead of having to build up....instead they obsessed with power over principle.

The way I see it Corbyn's party has a strong chance of being the main opposition to a Reform government and probably will likely have a strong chance of leading the country in 2034 if the country hasn't already broken up by then.
