Fair play to him. Kamada has improved significantly, especially over the last few months, and most notably in Europe. He was excellent again last night.
I don't regret any of my criticisms of him, though, as I don't think think I was wrong at the time. For me, in his first season he went from being awful to being just about OK (albeit with very good performances in the FA Cup semi and final last year) and, this season, was OK with a bit of a dip when the team dipped, up till he got injured. Since he came back he has been good in the league, and very good in Europe, again with eye-catching performances in the big games.
Is that a gradual process of adaptation to English football? If so, it would be a real shame to lose him now that his learning curve is complete.
Or, does he try harder on the big stage so as to get his next big contract? He wouldn't be the first. Problem is, if we give him another two or three years here, will his levels drop?
Or, does he always try his best but is only good enough to play very well in the lowest European level, and to be average at best, overall, in the premier league? The two are very different, both in style and speed, and we play an awful lot more Premier League football than we do European football.
Anyway, whereas I was very keen to see the back of him a few months ago I am now very happy for him to stay. Its great when players improve. I hope Pino follows the example, and of course Johnson. Given the need to both strengthen and enlarge the first team squad, especially in midfield, I would be surprised if the club didn't try to keep Kamada now.
