Kamada will be an asset

For the rest of Palace History. And we all said we'd be happy with one major trophy in our lifetime. We'll be watching that goal over and over again.

The strange looking tactic of knocking of passing it along our own goal line trying to invite the press. Then going long. The great pass from Mateta out wide, amazing cross from Munoz and the beautifully calm and technically wonderful finish from Eze.

But also in there was Kamada, who had to twist his body to make the return ball back out to the right into space for Mateta

So in response to the OP. You were right! Whatever has gone before. Kamada is an asset and helped us score the goal to win our first major trophy.

Kamada had another superb game yesterday - as they ALL did!

His work rate was excellent and his overall recent improvement for us was yet again very evident.

I think if and when Ebs leaves in the Summer we could see Daichi filling that spot very effectively and then hopefully chipping in with a few more goals too.

I initially singled him out as my MotM until I was reminded how much Hendo did.

I still voted him my MotM on the CPFC website. Might not have stood out but the number of times he put his foot in to break up City possession was pivotal. Forced them to reset repeatedly. Great game from a player I wasn't fully sold on.

Great game yesterday, great end of season. Now up to speed and strength of the Prem. Good player.
I always believed that there was a player in there and opined as such at HOL.
When I asserted these sentiments privately to supporters they vehemently disagreed and thought I had taken leave of my senses !
Here was a player who knew the 'Glasner Way' and just needed to adapt to the demands of the PL.

He proved himself to all the doubters yesterday. And i now apologise for all my previous doubting.
i reckon Kamada has shown the greatest improvement in our squad. The step up to the Prem is a big one. First step. First Dan. A blackbelt in football. Shodan kamada.

And surely this morning, the back page of all the Japanese newspapers will have a photo of the first Japanese Eagle. And the sports-mad Japanese public will be googling 'Crystal Palace' to find out where we are and how to book tickets.

Its not by accident that you successfully defend against one of the wealthiest teams in the World for 100 minutes. Kamada is an Eagle.

First Japanese player to win the FA cup.
If nothing the shirt sales could be worth a few quid alongside promotional stuff.
Our side is quite loaded with international quality players so onwards and upwards 👍

he really was excellent yesterday, though Glasner said he committed too early in the build up to their penalty, a lot of his good work goes under the radar, and Glasner is being vindicated as he was always going to be. Daichi can give Ollie back those incriminating photos now!😉

The lesson with Kamada is illustrative.
None of us, including me, can forecast the future developments comcerning players.

Football is so unpredictable.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Mateta and Hughes didn't seem to have a future at the club, or that JRS and Holding were deemed part of first team squad plans.

We all assumed that Doucoure would make a huge impact this season and looked forward to seeing how Riad developed.
Obviously this hasn't happened.

I saw Sarr as a hit and miss player at the beginning of the season, not the hardworking performer who has now become an integral part of the team.

I didn't see Richards as a player who could perform at the highest level on the right of the back 3 , thinking he would get exposed by pacy wide players against top teams.
I was wrong.

On Kamada, I could see he had skills and good fitness.
However, I didn't see him as a player strong enough to play in a midfield two.
That also looks to be proved wrong.

I suppose it's the unpredictability that makes it's such a fascinating game despite it's tendency to make us all look foolish with our assertions and predictions.

At the risk of being cynical, it won't hurt our commercial revenue from his part of the world.

Also, not sure if strict Samurai-era manners are slipping. But no bow - not even a gesture towards one - when he shook hands with Royalty?

Really like to see him score v Wolves.

I was wrong about Kamada. Completely wrong. I am not saying he will be a Palace great but the next player that comes in I will keep my powder dry before shouting off. To be fair it is only because we care that we can be dicks sometimes.

I look forward to Billy the fish arriving and being an absolute star next season.

Like most others on this thread, I have loved the fact that this bloke has made me shut up and I hope he keeps doing it. Put in some good performances in Europe, and what a complete turnaround that'd be. Love anyone who can put his head down and work hard for this football club.

If there was ever a lesson in writing a player off to early, this was it.

Try to look for the positives, and dont assume that if a player isn't haring around tacking everything in site they are not doing anything. And trust that Glasner knows what he's doing.

Glasners team is all about a cohesive unit, working as one. Positioning is vital, especially against a team like City.

What a bloke and what a player - humble pie all round for us as a fan base.

He put a photo of him lifting the trophy on his Instagram captioned:

"The most difficult season in my career... but?"

Clearly the slow start was as disappointing for him as anyone, but my word has he earnt that salary in the last month or two!

I think it will be excellent in Europe and perfect for the Europa League

There was a revealing comment in his interview on the Palace website a few weeks back where he said he would be happier if the team had more possession.

He's had to learn a whole new set of skills on what to do without the ball

This time next year we'll be fuming he hasn't signed an extension

Agreed. If he had been at many other Pl clubs he would have been booed, vilified and dropped.

I know he got criticism from some but it was fairly mild and justified for most of the season. In general though most Palace fans kept faith with Ollie and trusted his judgement which has now been proved.

Some of this is still true IMO.

Richards adds some much needed ariel presence, but you still wouldn't want anyone running at him.

Sarr gets into so many great positions, but his crossing is pretty dire (so is Munoz's).

However, we cant attract the perfect players, so we are going to have to accept some deficiencies. But trust that the system minimises the weaknesses.

For me the benefit of this system, when done correctly is we have lots of overloads. In both attack and defence.
