Whilst we can never be certain how anyone would react it seems highly unlikely that an Israeli government opposed to settlements in the West Bank and in favour of a two state solution would have treated the appalling actions of Hamas as an opportunity to progress an agenda they opposed.

The current government is pushing a different agenda. That’s why they are condemned. They are not just seeking the return of the hostages and to ensure the destruction of Hamas. Indeed they are threatening the future of the hostages with their current operations. Something the families have pointed out.

For the record, the USA and allies invaded 2 nations in full scale decade plus long war directly killing iro 500,000 in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2003 and 5 million if you include indirect estimates.

How does that compare?

I have never not accepted the death count - the IDF commander confirming it is just the nail in the coffin of the bullshit diversions around it, that you and others have shamelessly peddled for months on end. The US and UK have carried out airstrikes on targets inside cities when fighting ISIS or Al-Qaeda. Occupying and sending in more forces actually increases the death counts. International law puts responsibility on the group using human shields, not just the army responding. Your bias makes you blame Israel and not Hamas.

Why is it OK for other countries to restrict journalists' access and not Israel? I think most people know that Israel is not targeting Christians – unless you have evidence to the contrary?

Those figures are only for the city of Gaza and not the Gaza strip as a whole. Of course the population of the main city will increase as people flee from war.

I don't understand how anyone can be accurately reporting figures with what is going on there and assume it is all just guess work
