Is Glasner the problem?

Saw this constructive discussion between a Palace and Spurs fan on Youtube. Listen to what the Spurs guy said about Glasner and Palace's problem.
The Spurs Guy is right and wrong, if we had kept Andersen bought a quality left footed attacker with the money we got for Olise and Johnstone and added a LWB as cover, we would be ok with Glasner, But for some reason we bought players completely unsuited to Glasners Tactics, so if he doesn't change his style, and he wont, i hope he does, we only have two options, wait for the January window, and correct the signings, or bring in a manager willing to play 442, which even a blind man can see is the best style with the players we have.

After that 'Purple patch' at the end of last season, the 'Mood music' amongst supporters was that there was an acceptance that players would depart but the finances raised would enable the club to acquire quality replacements and there was talk of 'Top 8' and 'Europe'.

The season is in its infancy but thus far none of the replacements have made any impact at all, accordingly there are fingers being pointed at the summer recruitment drive.

For Sunday the good news is that Son is out.
For us Doucoure remains out and there remains a doubt about Wharton.
It sounds to me that he may well have an operation after the next 3 games are out of the way (possibly waiting for Doucoure to return?).

Glasner remains defiant and in the press conference said we had 20 efforts v Forest and he posed the question to the reporters when was the last time a Palace team had 20 efforts away from home?

He was questioned about Kamada struggling in adapting to the Premier League, but Glasner disagreed and said he thought that Kamada had settled in well.

He struck a defiant note and my suspicion is that he will persevere with his preferred system on Sunday.

I hope the team is as defiant as Glasner and that his view that there is not a lot wrong proves to be a correct assertion.

The recruitment was poor I said it at the time on paper it looked like we spend etc but I didn't rate it.

So many players available which would have improved us yet we go for bargain basement ones.

I would have taken AWB and Ward-Prowse plus last season wouldn't have messed about with Hall who was left back we really need ended up at Newcastle.

Just pay the price get deal done but typical Palace way keep dragging it trying to offer below what they want and losing out.

We then go and spend 20m on a goalkeeper when we already have an international one.

Glasner is making odd choices but I can see when he leaves Palace he will mention the losing players and bringing i he was even bringing it up before season started and before window closed even more went out.

Oliver Glasner on Daichi Kamada:

"I think he has adapted. I saw a good game from him on Monday. He won many duels, maybe he wasn't as lucky with the finishes. He's working hard for the team. I think he has adapted.”

Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton will remain with the squad for the next three games before #CPFC decide if the 20-year-old will undergo groin surgery.

Elsewhere, Cheick Doucoure returned to training this week but is not ready in time to face Spurs.

????????????

Lacroix looks like he'll prove to be a bit of a bargain at £18m. He is the top ranked player in the squad in terms of stats and his pace is a big asset, plus he hits some great long passes through the middle. I'm not sure which Kamada Glasner is watching though? He has some of the worst stats in the team and aside from the odd good pass has offered nothing. Obviously he is going to support him publicly, I just hope that for now he stops playing him.

I think his body language has changed. He looks depressed. To me, he sounded like we will give it our best shot but we can't compete with the likes of Spuds.

If we'd bought Smith -Rowe, LWB and Sarr with the money and kept Andersen and Ayew then things would have been different.

Based on our current performances and results we are 'Underdogs' going into the Tottenham game and I expect us to emerge the vanquished.
Should we also be defeated at Wolves thereby suffering back-to-back losses, this will be a cause for alarm, concern and consternation.

Agreed. Lacroix has done decently after an indifferent start but doesn’t offer what Anderson did in terms of passing or leadership. Of the others Nketiah has tried hard but looks to lack quality. There is a reason he only scored 3 goals for Leeds in the Championship last season. It was a lot of money to pay for somebody without proven pedigree at this level. Doesn’t seem to give us any more than Edouard did.

Same with Sarr. Ok player and hasn’t really impacted but to be fair needs more chances to play.

Kamada just looks miles off the pace. Honestly hasn’t shown what he offers above say somebody like Schlupp.

Put aside Olise, who we were never going to be able to replace, and the ins and outs look to have left us at best neutral, but probably worse off.

I garland your comments with approbation.
£30 Mill for an unproven striker at this level.

Apropos Sarr I have consistently opined on HOL that at Watford he often played on the periphery and went missing in some games.Someone once stated to me "He doesn't turn up for every game".I for one was not overly enthused when he signed for our club.

According to Capology.com he has £18,200,000 left on his contract. Not too shabby for just turning up when he feels like it. And he can be as up for it as drunken bridesmaid without it making any difference if he's not getting picked anyway.

Tend to agree and full responsibility must rest with our DOF, Freedman, who has been looking to sign these two for many years.

There seems to be a lot of talk shifting now towards a poor window which of course (rightly or wrongly-imo wrongly) has little to do with Glasner. It was he who wanted Kamada which the club didn't mind getting for him because he was a free. Glasner apparently also recommended a couple of others, one of which was Lacroix so so far he seems to have one hit and one miss.
I think its easy for any of us to sit back and say he's crap, he's not worth what we paid and so on. In a few weeks time Nketiah may well have scored 3 or 4 goals and we are all saying how promising he is. Sarr might start tearing it up down the wing. Lacroix may well continue improving to the point where his abilities surpass Andersen.
We do need a left back/left wing back but it wasn't for lack of trying to sign one in the summer. It looked likely at one point that Sessignon was ours. Only for him to walk away and join Fulham instead.

I dont think we can really judge any of the new signings at least until Christmas. Lets not forget many Palace fans were convinced Andrew Johnson was crap and just a rubbish makeweight in the Morrison deal until a couple of months down the line when he started banging them in.

I think Palace need to dig in and defend resolutely to get anything. I watched the West Ham Spurs game, first half West Ham defended well and looked dangerous, got a goal. 2nd half West Ham started pressing and got smashed.

It needs to be tight with Eze feeding Nketiah on the break. I agree with a solid 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.

I worry if we come out to press like West Ham it could be a right pumping. Spurs didn't look brilliant last night but they were resting players for us

I do hope that both Nketiah and Sarr perform with real aplomb as it in our interests that they do so.I will be humble enough to admit that my assessment was awry.

In terms of Andy Johnson, whereas we have paid £30 Mill for Nketiah, the Morrison/Johnson exchange resulted in us receiving £4.25 Mill.Furthermore we were not in the PL when he joined us but overall his goalscoring record for us was impressive.
Johnson is Director of Football at AFC Croydon Athletic.

We will be asking for trouble if we play a 2 man central midfield against Spurs.
They play a classic 433 system with Bissouma, Kuleseski and probably either Maddison or Sarr in midfield.
We need to match them up in midfield.
Spurs are adept at attacking down both flanks with both full backs supporting their wide players.
They continually switch the play in an attempt to create overloads down the sides.
Our full backs will largely be on defensive duty.
They do leave gaps behind when their full backs push forward, hoping the pace of Van den Berg will compensate for the spaces left.
Possibly an area to exploit, but none of our forward players are blessed with great pace other than Sarr and it's by no means certain that he will start.

I warm to your assessment of Tottenham.

In terms of Full-backs, Pedro Porro is of course very attacking and is not shy of having a shot.
Destiny Udogie feels he needs to win the ball and can be rash at times, he has also been guilty of ball-watching.
Kulusevski who used to be deployed wide on the right has been moved more centrally with Johnson providing the width on that flank.
