It was his through ball that put Mateta in. When we get Wharton back we will see a marked improvement in Eze's play and it will re-vitalise Mateta and probably Sarr and Nketia too. Like Guehi we need to keep him.

Moved house yesterday and had to drive all the way to Lewisham and back to collect a cat but the three hour journey was a welcome distraction!
Needless to say, I couldn’t care less having checked the score upon my return.

I don’t think the impact of an away win can be overstated enough. Agree 100% that this could change the team’s demeanour.
If we can start quickly I don’t think there will ever be a better time to get stuck into Citeh. They already hate playing us because of some previous results we have had, so why not do it again.

Beautifully taken goal and a much needed three points!
Thought we played well and showed a decent work rate and desire.
For all the stick I give Mitchell I must praise him tonight for a vastly improved performance. Still lacking at times in his crossing and delivery but overall, both defensively and going forward, I would agree with an earlier poster who stated he thought he’d played his best game of the season.

Will Hughes really looked great in his intelligent positioning
Central 3 look so strong. Laughable how Lee Dixon thought lumping over the top would work considering their pace. Guehi really class.
Mitchell did not look out of place at all in this game. Good defending, ok going forward but a sense that no one thought he would do anything well so didn't gamble on his crosses
Overall, really composed, quite classy for a relegation threatened team and a wonderful goal

Watched us at Portman road tonight and I felt we deserved the points, they had moments. but we controlled the game and had better chances.
I’m usually critical of Mitchell but tonight he was really good, best game I’ve seen from him for ages.
Mateta was the man as usual
Lerma gave us more balance and bite
Hughes played very well
Marc Guehi showed why he’s one of the best central defenders in the league.

It's not a stat I like to give out, but that's 5 points we've picked up during Kamada's suspension.
I do think he may have a future, but certainly not as a starter and needs to compete with Devenny for game time.
Weirdly, he may do quite well with a fit Wharton playing him in early, but certainly a luxury player at the moment.

I make you right DG. Why anyone wouldn't enjoy watching him play is totally beyond me. Criticising him for not being as good as he can be is just pointless when he can do things that no one else can - that's more than enough for me. Football to me is about the excitement he can provide otherwise I'd be content watching park football.

Important win and although there was not much between the teams the better of not many chances fell to Palace. Great finish from Mateta and he did really well in starting the move from the Palace half. Felt both teams were cautious and think that was down to having played a few day's previous they did not want to concede a goal and then go chasing the game.
Let's see if we can cause an upset on the weekend? It will help having the extra day off as City play tonight.
