Getting the feckless and idle back into work has been a theme of mine many times. We are far too soft with them. We should expect everyone to work. Very few are completely incapable of doing something.

We need more workers because we have occupational shortages. Getting the unemployed trained and able to work cannot solve our problems. It can only, slowly, mitigate them. Immigration is the only practical solution.

Time will see second, third and subsequent generations of today’s recent arrivals being much more fully immersed in British culture than their forefathers. They will be educated by us and become us. Just as previous immigrants have. We just have to ensure it happens and we don’t build barriers of prejudice that stop it. Barriers that people like you are building all the time.

As of the latest data, approximately 70.8% of immigrants from the EU and 58.0% of immigrants from non-EU countries are employed in the UK.

This compares to the employment rate for non-immigrant (UK-born) individuals in the UK of approximately 74.5%.

It really is of some note to observe that those who have defended immigration into this country for years....which independent of type results in less percent actually working, suddenly now have an issue with those sitting on benefits. The irony is somewhat delicious.

Their instances of drinking the kool aid appears to be very selective it seems.
