Gulp.

As I mentioned Hackney did catch my eye when I have seen him play. The most sensible article I’ve read on this suggests they want circa £20m for him which seems to be our max price point for decent youngsters.
It also suggests that he is seen as a natural medium term replacement for Hughes which makes perfect sense given Hughes is likely into his last two seasons now at 31.
I watched him a couple of times last season and he looked very good. It’s definitely a yes from me.
Exactly. Look how thin we got at times last season through injuries and suspensions. If we look at what we've got:Injuries plus Europe would be the thinking I suspect.
Couldnt agree more.Exactly. Look how thin we got at times last season through injuries and suspensions. If we look at what we've got:
All-in-all Hackney makes a lot of sense, so bring him in if we can.
- Lerma will increasingly be a CB back-up and may play that role in Europe
- Wharton was injured for much of last season and we can only hope that was a blip
- Doucoure is sadly entering Wickham territory when it comes to the treatment room
- Hughes is over 30
- Kamada is entering his final season and will be 30 next August
- Ozoh still needs to step up and Glasner may well be grooming him to be a CB
- Devenny is stepping up but he seems more effective as an AM than a DM
