Has Parish ruined this season?

Parish and Co were undoubtedly the club's saviors and they're Palace fans too, and we'll always be grateful for this but there's been way to many f*** ups over the years and false promises galore. This is just my opinion, but time to step down Steve and let someone (I don't know who) step in who has the ambition to twist instead of stick

All we had to do was sign a replacement during the summer around the time we signed Sosa and it all could have been avoided.
Easy said.

Also, we had one with an eager player and terms agreed. Arguably an upgrade on MG and only 22. His club saw the interest, what league it was from and the comp that then circled... promptly put the price up from a record-breaking £40m to an unaffordable £60m +

They still have him.

These same posts are present like autumn leaves on the fan sites of every EPL club save Liverpool and perhaps a few others.

Parish is the face of our ownership and I doubt he is resisting spending money, which suggests if people want change then we need a buyer.
I am frustrated too but perhaps no one can do better given the finances.
Steve is a fan who loves the club and the results of his tenure are 2nd to none, they speak for themselves.

His failures are clear as well but if the owners are not willing to fund a new stand or pump money in then perhaps he is doing a great job with the limited budget. If Liverpool had come in sooner with the accepted bid then perhaps we would have an adequate replacement and looking forward.
Glasners frustration might be the result of managing a financially small club currently punching above its weight

At this point, a whole ream of stuff could be true.

MG could be upset with SP for blocking his exit/breaking promises.
MG could be upset with OG for blocking his exit.
MG could understand the situation, but be disappointed it didn't happen.

I hope that this situation was transparent between the three parties, and all three people understand the reasoning behind the decisions made. I doubt this is the case though.

I think that it's either MG or/and OG being naive about how these things work or more likely SP making promises to each then finding himself in a situation where one of those promises will be broken. He should have made a decisive decision and ended it early, but ended up seemingly breaking both.

I like SP, but he's managed this badly.

I am not saying you are wrong, early signings was ridiculous, your cant replace players before they leave, If Arsenal hadn't bid the asking fee in the last week, he would still be here, a replacement was bought, Palace never got the amount that they wanted for Guehi, so no deal went through, 5 players have been purchased, Glasner asked for 3, i assume Glasner is happy, he got want he wanted, at a time that was appropriate, Glasner should extend his contract, Parish should stay away from the limelight and Guehi get on with honouring his contract, while looking forward to whatever he wants in 8 months.
Agreed, I’ve said before that we aren’t going to replace players before they leave. And that Palace have no control over when an acceptable bid is received for our players.

In terms of numbers, the club have delivered to Glasners request.

I think his big beef was the late in the day agreement to let Guehi leave . Glasner so far hasn’t indicated that he’s going to stay beyond this season and at the moment I’d say events have done nothing to encourage him to do so but let’s see.

Also hope that once his head clears, Guehi continues to play to the best of his ability while honouring his contract.

Lots of rumours going around and clickbait muck spreading. My disappointment stems from the club leaving itself open to it

It’ll be fine once we get back to Premier League football. All the clickbait BS will die down as soon as England play. Guehi will come back and be the good pro he is. Glasner will be excited by the new signings and get on with the job. I doubt he ever intended extending his contract but will see it out. Parish will explain to the board why they’re getting sweet FA for Guehi when he goes. Most importantly we can look forward to another successful season for the club.

What has SP managed badly? in your opinion.

We’ll see. As I wrote, actual facts will hopefully emerge.

Glasner is not a sulker. Hes a professional that feels let down the club - and that’s on record. Not Clickbait
yes he was upset about how things went , but has never indicated that he would walk , being upset is one thing , were walking away because we at to sell players is poor very poor on him , as you can guess if I was parish , and ollie said that , it would have been here's your p45 goodbye , I don't pull any punch's on that , and I was a union rep lol

But there was rather a lot of back story happening this summer which directly impacted on the transfer business. Can any other club match what happened to us?

That we survived it with relatively limited pain (I hope) is remarkable.

Nuts isn't it
We have replaced players who have departed or are long term injured.

Eze - Pino
Ward - Sosa
Doucoure - Uche
Turner - Benitez
Riad - Kanvot

Another winger would have been nice but over all a good window.

Play in different corners. Sosa is the much needed rotator for Mitchell.

This may sound a little like mistaken hubris given nobody really listens to what I say, but I may regret the next comment.

If we qualify for the knock-out stage in Europe and are doing good in the league, without all the backstory and with our new Sporting Director fully settled, I predict a really good January window.

MG out - comparable CB in.
New RWB.
New RW.
New DM.

I'd say we have a problem with our talent pipeline right now, in that we don't have replacement players lined up. However, we can't make our moves until we've sold other players. For the MG situation, Liverpool left us no option but to not sell. If they were really serious about signing MG they'd have made it happen either by upping the £ or giving us Gomez on loan and they'd have done it well before deadline day.

Let's see how we do in the loan market but for me we're light in attacking options, specifically players with a bit of magic who can find the back of the net regularly. With Eze gone and Sarr out for a couple of weeks, I think we will struggle for goals and the attacking dynamic of our team changes massively, what to I'm not sure.

And I’ll have a pint of whatever you’ve been drinking!

This is a great exposure thread for the dramatic pantwetters

I'm fully supportive of pant-wetting! Emotional and nervy stuff supporting Palace.

However, when we've started the season unbeaten, qualifying for our European campaign and against three teams with CL aspirations in the league (including the traditional battering of Villa... away!) and the transfer window whilst far from perfect was not a complete disaster, you have to ask if there is a limit on 'pant-wetting'? FFS

It'll all work out and this season is potentially looking to be better than any preceding it (acknowledging we won the cup last season).

Yes, and if you believe the injuries and suspension page Riad is back on 22nd Nov, Douc 8th Nov, just in time for them to get match fit for AFCON 😎
