Glasner to Extend?

He originally signed a 2.5 year contract so he has another year to run - the article implies he is out of contract this summer, which he definitely is not.

I would have no issues with him signing for longer and we clearly have no plan B, however, i think he may be reluctant to do so. He is clearly ambitious and may not want to limit his options going forward.

If we offer a decent payrise i can see maybe an extension for another 1 or 2 seasons on top of the 1 year he has left.

He is a decent person so will not want to break a contract if a better offer was to come in.

He is in a wonderful position either way and rather than money for him it may come down more to what the club's ambitions are going forward. For example, building a new stand will clearly limit our transfer plans.
The one thing that our 3 multi billionaire investors are able to spend money on without affecting our status is the ground. Not sure on your thoughts, but I would like to think they will get properly invested into this and given their huge wealth it shouldn’t really affect our investment programme in the team.

Look forward to a Southgate,Dyche type of Manager with boring football, think Textor was right,Parish has no ambition apart from staying in the Premier League,Glasner is right to question his future.
Parish did mention that he would like the club to break into the Top 10.
At this juncture I do not envisage Glasner being at the helm for the start of the following season.
Whether he is in situ for the entirety of the forthcoming season is a matter for debate.

Parish's view ( correctly in my belief) is that it's his job ro run the club and the manager's job to run the team.

Conflicts have arisen during his tenure , as it does at points in most clubs between manager and chairman.

I think that Freedman's departure has left a vacuum at the club while Parish has also has had to contend with the European case and the change of ownership.
Something has to give, and in this situation it looks like it's our transfer dealings.

I'm hopeful that once the European decision is announced on Monday the focus will return to transfers and we'll see additions.
The caution I would add is that Glasner referred to the need for 'quailty' signings.
These don't come cheap.

Glasner may well not extend, but this could have happened anyway with his family based in Austria and it wouldn't surprise me if he was tempted by a top European club.

I can see a top club coming in for OG. However is he better suited to a palace or can he adapt his tactical approach where expectations are different. He’s a smart guy so maybe but no guarantees

I think there's evidence he can adapt his tactical approach.
If you remember the last 10 or so games of the season when he joined we pressed high and boxed teams in.
Olise and Eze were on fire , Wharton and Hughes dominated possession in midfield and JPM fired the bullets.

The following season Olise had gone, Wharton was injured and Eze was struggling for form and fitness.
Glasner adapted as we were not as well set up to retain possession.
We became a more counterattacking team adept at scoring from set pieces.

I think Glasner is very methodical and organised is his approach but can adapt to get the best out the players he has available.

Fair points. It is the expectation that adds the pressure. When he has tricky run last year majority of fans stayed with him but lots didn’t. At a larger club with higher expectations that might have played out differently

Parish has done the unforgiveable by failing two years in succession in supporting the best manager we have had in my 75 years of supporting the club.

You can forgive the previous season when we signed new players at the death (and consequently caused a very poor start) but to do it AGAIN (no matter the extenuating circumstances) is almost criminal neglect.

We will lose our manager and our Chairman will be to blame. Talk about shooting himself in the foot.

Can’t argue against this unless it’s all in hand. Is it? maybe?, narghh probably not, but we live in hope.

I have always thought, and still do he is a one trick pony, but it is a very good trick, he is more reliant on the type of player, i have doubts about him at top level, but i had doubts about him after 10 games last season. 🙄

But who the fcuk is Texter to criticise Parish? We might have needed his money for a time, but these rich investors come and go and have no love for anything other than money, let alone the clubs they’re at. After 12 years in the premier league and an FA Cup win SP’s not going too bad a job.
It sounded like Texter had the needle with parish for not letting him have more control than he did anyway.

Glasner’s in a sweet spot right now. If Palace have a good season, the big clubs will come calling. If it goes wrong, he’s got the perfect get-out clause: “I warned you about the lack of signings.”

And let’s be honest – the same transfer moans were there last summer.

Sarr – not good enough
Kamada – not good enough
Why have we spent on a goalkeeper?
Why did we let Anderson go etc

But it worked out, didn’t it?

Given the choice between splashing on a few “maybes” and keeping Guehi and Eze for another season and then spending, I’d take the latter every single time.

Sometimes the best transfer business is making sure your best players aren’t leaving.

Except it’s effectively going to cost us £40m-£50m to hold onto Guehi for another season unless he signs an extension to his contract which is unlikely.

If we get back into the Europa League I think that Guehi will sign an extension as will Eze.
If not then they will both be gone.
It all hinges on the CAS decision.

I understand the points you make , but no two situations( or seasons) are exactly analogous.
As it stands we're looking at Sarr or Edouard as central striker options where JPM is unavailable or substituted.
At Lerma in the back 3 if one of the 3 are out.
At Esse, Kamada, or Devenny if Eze or Sarr are unavailable.
It needs addressing.

I wouldn't blame the bloke if he packed us in today.
He's been badly let down by the owners over the timing of any transfers in, both this season and last, he must be as frustrated as a fuckin eunuch in a whorehouse at the moment.
I'm sick to the eye teeth of reading all the negative shite hanging around us and now we're looking like losing the best manager we've ever had!
Get your fuckin arses in gear owners and at least get close to what the manager needs eh?.

Agree. Textor has little credibility given how it ended at Lyon
