Glasner to Extend?

OG has got a style of play that the players have taken on board now and I’m not sure another manager would have the same effect on the players, not only that the players are as fit as I have seen of any Palace players in my time of being a supporter.

To progress we need him to sign an extended contract and the rest will take care of itself.

i really hope OG stays with us. But we all know this is a cut-throat business. Spurs, ManUre, Arsenal, & many European Giants.......will all be interested in upgrading the hot-seat.
We managed to hold onto Zaha, fingers crossed OG will stay with us for a bit longer.

ManUre and Arsenal aren't getting rid of their managers (yet) but I can see Spurs waxing the floor as Postecoglu exits after his last game of the season.
OG would fit their 'style' as well. This worries me. tie him down NOW!

would OG want to go to that mediocrity of a giant ? maybe for twelve months......and hence onward to somebody with real ambition. Spurs are rapidly becoming a club that top talent is reluctant to join. And even more reluctant to stay at.....Harry Kane, Modric, Gareth Bale etc etc.
Would the Board at Spurs endorse employing an Austrian ? there may well be some dissenting voices. Alex Ferguson never signed a German. Never underestimate the influence of politics in football.

This is very true. I don't know why anyone would join them, or indeed ManU at the moment. But the lure of the perceived big club still remains.

It's even more important to sign Ollie into a longer contract now Dougie is leaving. Ollie is a shrewd operator and I imagine he would like to have some influence over the recruitment of a replacement DOF.

For what it's worth the Telegraph, via the BBC, reckons Tottenham have identified Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola as their top targets.
Still, let's get OG tied down ASAP.

With Freedman going, this could become the most difficult period for Parish, in a long time, If OG won’t extend, and worse still gets enticed away.
Because it’s no secret that clubs here and abroad are queuing up to make serious attempts on half of the team this summer. If OG, commits its likely most of the side will also commit to staying. What OG, has done has been brilliant but for real success we need at least three more seasons from him. Without him it could be a lot longer wait for top ten and possible European competition.

Read earlier that Parish said after the game that proper talks on a contract extension for OG will begin at the end of the season. He said the issues that OG want assurances over are not the kind of things you might expect (so sounds maybe like minor things but those that are important to him). He says what Oliver mainly wants is a goal. A plan. A target that everyone wants and will work together to achieve.
Sounds like when Alex Ferguson agreed the long term project at United. Obviously Palace is a smaller scale project but a top quality manager that wanted to put the club he is at on the map and be willing to stay in the job till we reached that point is the stuff that dreams are made of. Nothing wrong with ambition but sometimes Players/managers forget its possible to fulfill those ambitions right where they are.
The short term important point though is he is contracted to Palace till the end of next season and Parish says he will not be leaving before then.

If we can keep nearly all our team together and add a couple of players in the summer we're looking at an exciting 25/26!

If Spuds lose in Europe to ManUre Ange will get the boot. Levy has a track record of upsetting the cart in relation to the Wilf debacle and can see him sniffing about. Also if Chelski fall out of the Champs League scramble at the weekend Maresca will also see the axe even if they win the 3rd rate Europe Cup. The vultures will b circling. Let's hope we can get Ollie tied down here in terms of contract and hopefully he wishes to see the project thru here next season.

In an exclusive interview with ORF, OG coach explained: “I strongly assume that I will be the coach of Crystal Palace next season.”

We had a final meeting and I showed the players the table for the last 30 match days, where we are seventh. I see no reason why we can't achieve that over 38 match days. We will tackle that very clearly next season and I am very confident that we will play another great season,” said Glasner, who is the first domestic coach to win a title in England and still has a contract until 2026 with last season's twelfth-placed team.

I have nothing to base this on, but I reckon it'll be highly unlikely for Ollie to move away after his first full, highly successful, season managing in the Premier League. He's an honourable chap who has stated quite clearly that he enjoys life at CPFC and he has high regard for the players at his disposal.

He will appreciate that his reputation has blossomed and henceforth, his value. As long as we hold on to the core of our team he has every opportunity to guide us to more success next season. After that, he may well become sought after for very big money and the temptation to leave could be too much to resist, particularly if he receives offers from Europe. I don't see him staying with us long term.

In the meantime we send him our congratulations on his well deserved League Managers Award for 2025 and look forward to watching our players respond to his demands for entertaining, match winning football in the 25/26 season.

We win the Community Shield -
Finish 8th in the PL
Win one of the domestic cups -

OG can then go to one of the proper big clubs, no more being linked with Spuds & the like.

Give him what he wants:

  • More £££? Not a problem, we'll get a whip round going.
  • Transfer warchest? Sorted, we'll get the bolt cutters on Harris and Blitzer's purses.
  • Sacrifice a lamb before every game? Can do, we can nip into Sainsbury's before the game for some lamp chops.
  • The London Philharmonic Orchestra to play the Imperial March when you come out of the tunnel? We'll ask Bill Nighy to put in a good word.
  • Need someone to find a kidnapped relative? Easy, we'll get Liam Neeson on the case.
  • Make Édouard a key member of the squad when he's back from relegating Leicester? Easy now son, that's an ask too far...
