Glasner Out

We also lost Richards at pretty much the same time as Munoz & Sarr were out, so at that time the right side was extremely seriously depleted.
Richards cut his foor v Arsenal just before Christmas. I think he missed 2 games and was back v Villa in early Jan.

Not sure this can be used as an excuse for our terrible form/results from mid Dec to mid Feb.

Yes a few other players were out too, but that's why you have a squad - players get injured and suspended etc.

We lost one player to Afcon, yes an important one, but again we knew Sarr was going about 18 months beforehand.

Ultimately our squad players are not good enough and haven't been for some time.

This thread should now be locked.

It should then be pinned at the top of Palace Talk - Forever a reminder of just how wrong some people can be and to give us all a good laugh when we need one.

Thank you for the incredible memories OG…and the trophies.
I echo these sentiments.
I wish Oliver Glasner every success in his future endeavours.

Without a crystal ball to see into the future , could well be another hundred years before another Palace manager
gets anywhere near the achievements of the outstanding Oliver Glasner,or perhaps even longer.

I think this thread should indeed be locked. It'll be quite an interesting time capsule to look back on one day.

It shows the trends in the majority view, that Glasner is an excellent coach upon whom we were unlikely to improve, a view largely maintained even during a run of poor form, on to widespread anger with his conduct to the point many felt he would (should) be sacked for misconduct, to an uneasy acceptance that continuing with him until the end of the season was probably the most sensible option, to a gradual thawing in the relationship, to the very high point in Leipzig. The glossy media version of the story may miss a lot of that, but it's all here.

The thread also captures some of the fine point debates about Glasner. For many he was an excellent coach who took the team to a higher level, though for some he simply benefited from having perhaps our best ever set of players. He was either very consistent and clear headed in his tactical approach, or unbearably rigid depending on how you look at it. He was either right to call out the board for not backing him, or a classic case of the manager as petulant child, demanding the club make poor financial decisions that he wouldn't be around to carry the can for. Some players developed hugely under him, though many hope at least one of two of our more expensive signings will do better under someone else.

I suppose it goes to show that there is always more to the story than might meet the eye, even with the most successful managers.

Brings tears.

I know this was a discussion of other threads but the FA Cup win is for me the single greatest moment in my Palace supporting life (that has been all my life just FYI!).

I never, ever thought I'd see that. To win a European trophy is just ludicrous and in a quiet moment of reflection, OG really did deliver far more than I ever imagined possible. I think it's been so surreal it doesn't sink in properly sometimes.

What a time it's been.

I agree Nick, reading his letter and watching the video made me a tad weepy too.

The man was Class with a capital C. He's gonna be a tough act to follow that's for sure.
