Glasner Out

I remember somebody saying to me aaaaages ago something along the lines of "Glasner looks good for you lot" to which I said yes, he does, but I've never trusted a three-at-the-back system because it requires so much training to get it engrained into your players that finally when you get found out all you have is to dig your heels in and try and play your system even harder. There is never a Plan B.
No doubt Macclesfield looked at the Larnaca and Freserikstad games to see how easy it is to stop us and it was a simple copy/paste job.

What a Jekyl and Hyde season season this is turning about to be.
From the team with the longest unbeaten run in Europe to a team that hasn’t won for ten or so games with no win in sight.
From the team with one of the best defensive records from set pieces to one of the worst.
From the team that beat Liverpool at home a few months ago in a state of euphoria and dreaming of a top 4 finish to a team suffering an abject defeat to Macclesfield and now hoping to arrest the slide down the table.

I think Europe has been detrimental ( as it has been to many clubs our size).
It’s stretched our squad, led to jaded performances and affected our confidence as we have failed to put away some pretty average teams.
It’s no coincidence that we can’t seem to win league games following the Thursday European fixtures.

We’ve had a fantastic record in recent years with transfers, but in the last season or two it’s been very mixed.
Esse, Nketiah, Riad, Sosa, Uche and Pino (at the moment) don’t look that inspiring or players that will keep us where we are, let alone drive us forward.
The transfer market is a gamble and it has to be noted that other players we were linked with haven’t exactly pulled up trees at their new clubs either e.g Guessand, Elliott, Doak, McAtee.

Ultimately we’ve probably got ahead of ourselves.
Glasner has acknowledged that he should have been more insistent about adding more players in the summer and that he had underestimated the intensity of the schedule.
Parish probably realises that mistakes have been made in the market and that the lack of DOF with Freedman’s departure and the ramifications of Textor’s departure and European fiasco haven’t helped.

I’m convinced we can get the season back on track, provided we can get our best team playing again as the players have demonstrated they can succeed.
Next season who knows with all the uncertainty around the manager and players.

Good summary 👍 ... The Palace rollercoaster continues!

Does Glasner get a time limit to sign a new contract, if he refuses to sign, surely then he has to go on gardening leave, conflict of interest, he may have already signed a pre-contract somewhere else, like he did with us, 12 months before?

It's so typical Palace. Finally win their first cup and the following year embarrass themselves.

The conundrum now exacerbated for Parish and co ..... can they go into the transfer market and strengthen a squad without knowing who will be coach next year .... and will current players be looking for an exit and will new players take a gamble?

Everyone knows he will be going, so the planning has to start, There is no point sacking him and appointing Paddy as interim, Parrish has to make plans.
Dyche will be looking for a new job as will Frank, Santo and Potter. It wont be the likes of Frank, as he will have seen how the club has failed to grasp the opportunity of lifting off due to the refusal of the billionaire owners to invest. There has to be a real chance that we will be back to the merry-go-round of the likes of Potter, Dyche, Santo etc. In other words back 3 years to where we were with Roy, except Roy had Olise Eze and Guehi and new manager will have what we have left in the cupboard, i.e. a group of players who cant beat a part time non league team.

So, it’s the next morning and I still can’t bring myself to listen to it on the news. I am still so hacked off. Not with the result - Macclesfield worked their arses off and I’d hate our upset to dilute their victory and effort - but with our team. I cannot recall ever being so annoyed at a performance.

To me it’s simple - if Glasner wants to go and won’t commit then let him go. All of this ‘will he, won’t he’ s*** is unsettling everyone. Same with Guehi. You don’t want to be here? Thanks for all your service but off you trot, Son.

My family are now into 5 generations of support - since my grandad in the 1920’s. In the 50 years I’ve been going I’ve never been irritated to the extent that I’m thinking of stepping back and watching non-league - Macclesfield maybe🙂 ). And that’s not a pant wetting attitude. I genuinely accept losing as long as we commit, work hard and play for the team and the fans. I’ve no idea what I witnessed yesterday but it wasn’t that. Travelling fans should be refunded out of the players and Glasners pocket as if he can’t work out how to unlock a team 122 places below us then does that bode well? Somethings going on at this club (yet again) and it’s frankly annoying.
The fans deserve a damn site better than that and the Team has let us down.
