Glasner Out

Should we send Guehi on gardening leave with him aswell ?
No, we know Guehi wants a move, we have know idea of OGs aims, we have a case of the tail wagging the dog, if lets say Glasner is going to Man Utd, is he not slightly interested to make next season with MU, a priority over Palace. until he signs he is no longer a long term Palace manager, conflict of interest for sure.

I heard we do actually have a couple of managers on a shortlist. Bordalas is one of those.
He is without the guy i would go for, loved by his fans and players, hated by everybody else, Getafe have a squad value of 68m euros, kept Getafe in La Liga since 2016, 442

So, it’s the next morning and I still can’t bring myself to listen to it on the news. I am still so hacked off. Not with the result - Macclesfield worked their arses off and I’d hate our upset to dilute their victory and effort - but with our team. I cannot recall ever being so annoyed at a performance.

To me it’s simple - if Glasner wants to go and won’t commit then let him go. All of this ‘will he, won’t he’ s*** is unsettling everyone. Same with Guehi. You don’t want to be here? Thanks for all your service but off you trot, Son.

My family are now into 5 generations of support - since my grandad in the 1920’s. In the 50 years I’ve been going I’ve never been irritated to the extent that I’m thinking of stepping back and watching non-league - Macclesfield maybe🙂 ). And that’s not a pant wetting attitude. I genuinely accept losing as long as we commit, work hard and play for the team and the fans. I’ve no idea what I witnessed yesterday but it wasn’t that. Travelling fans should be refunded out of the players and Glasners pocket as if he can’t work out how to unlock a team 122 places below us then does that bode well? Somethings going on at this club (yet again) and it’s frankly annoying.
The fans deserve a damn site better than that and the Team has let us down.
Well summarised. The feelings of disappointment have subsuded into full blown anger this morning. As others with a longer memory and more CP history have mentioned, so typical Palace. As I sat with my sons on the flight home after our second Wembley triumph, I put the question "how long will it take to ruin this chance (to compete at a higher table) this time?" Such chances for clubs of our size (income) and financial clout (financial so-called fair play rules) come along so rarely and in my lifetime that means the Team of the Eighties and then the early nineties. On both occasions there was so much internal strife including trainers/players getting ahead of themselves, chairmen making public and stupid comments (for those that remember Noades), and now, again, players, trainer seemingly believing the media/clickbait that they are so good that they must depart for pastures greener. I don't believe for one second that all the talk of moves doesn't filter back to perfomances.
Currently OG and the Board have both said that January will see the dcesion regarding OG'S future. If he won't commit, then there's no point letting him stay around. That never works. Once a leader has announced a departure in any business, the team stops performing. This is what happened in the previous times, a slow drift back down the spiral. I'm back to asking if the Board have a Plan B ?

I’d add to this that we’ve known about Guehi since the summer (and in reality before then) but it hasn’t impacted his performances yesterday aside, or those of the team. It looks like the OG speculation is impacting performances and that will likely get worse if he refuses to commit.

I think Glasner and Guehi affects us. I want us to start getting more ruthless with players who want to leave. Sell them and f*** them off.

Guehi cannot be forced to be sold. It is purely up to him. All we could
Do is make him train with the youth team but why would we do that? Would be insanity.

Regardless of if we accept a bid, Guehi cannot reject the terms as he is likely to earn a lot more money if he sees his contract run out.

I would say that Guehi has been an exceptional player and leader for us. If anything his performances this year have got better this season and that is testament to what a superb professional he is.

It doesn't make any difference to me anymore, and nor should it to the club. The players do not have loyalty. They move when they want. Time to give the uncommitted a little boot. Should have got our arse into gear last season. Because this is clearly late.

And you think the club has loyalty ? If you're not good enough you get sold, as a manager, you get sacked. Thats football

And if someone is good enough to play for a bigger club, they will.
Exactly, that's fine. I have no problem with that. We need to recognise it and help them go. I don't want the constant uncertainty. We need to give longer contracts and sell with 18 months- 2 years left if they won't sign. It's really all we can do.
This will they, won't they constant noise is crazy and unnecessary. Do or don't, whatever. It's a business.

Thats down to the club, they knew guhei wasnt gonna sign a contract, could have sold him to Newcastle for 60 million the other summer.

No issue with players or managers looking to advance their career. It’s their life and their career.

What frustrates me is the lack of forward planning by the club and as you say we let these situations linger.

We knew Guehi wanted to leave but didn’t have a plan for that in the summer when a replacement should have come in. As a result we had a shambolic end to the transfer window and still haven’t resolved that situation.

Let’s face it we all know OG won’t be here next season. Again we are letting it linger around. Just give the guy a deadline to sign and if he doesn’t then move on. Maybe this is what is happening but it doesn’t really look like it or feel like we have clarity as a club.

Fully agree with this. I posted the same well before Macclesfield. Which has obviously not made me change my mind.

I’d say with, 2 years to go, they get told that in 6 months time we will be having talks with them about re signing. 18 months to go, they get told that if they don’t sign a new contract , we will be looking for a club to buy them and start looking for a replacement.

If players sign their first contract for 3 years. Within 18 months we know if they can sink or swim in the premier league, also if they look like we will be getting big money offers.
