Glasner Out

We need to calm down. Yes it is a disastrous result and shows how actually winning the FA Cup was our pinnacle. The result today was our disaster.
OG and the players are probably as depressed as we are. Personally I think the plastic pitch was our downfall; sure, they train on one but playing an actual match is different.
Their second goal was a bit of a fluke, without that the redo would have been different.
Congratulations to Macclesfield; move on.
No mate. We were terrible against a side 5 leagues below us. Offered no threat at all which has been all too familiar in the last month or so. I think we'll turn it around when we get Munoz, Sarr, Kamada etc back. However, today was a f**king joke. Players should be ashamed.

Maybe we fell into the trap of doing what the manager wants and not necessarily what's best for the club? Freedman brought us players that were traditional "Crystal palace" players. One could say he built our promotion team and built our fa cup winning team.
The signings we have made this season feel like west ham type signings 🙊
When Glasner said proven, experienced players and Kamada was/is undroppable, it reminded me of West Ham. Also never dropping out of form players but always dropping youngsters. Not using certain players also seemed to make it look that way. I then heard we were looking at a 30 year old center back a 29 year old midfielder and a 29 year old striker. But I think we've tempered some of these expectations. Johnson seems about right and although a high fee for us, seems quite reasonable in the scheme of things. At least, I would say Glasner has favourites. That's how it looks.

These players might not return at the same time and of course we could suffer further injuries to key personnel. I am now somewhat concerned about our plight.

Also I don’t think we can expect players returning from injury to just pick up where they left off. Normally takes a few games to get going again.

We should have enough to avoid being drawn into any relegation concerns but that’s probably now the limit of our ambitions for the season. I don’t see us winning the Conference League.

Why did we win the the FA Cup last season?
I would contend that it was largely attributable to the attacking verve provided by Eze, Sarr, Munoz and Mateta and the fact that we fielded our strongest possible team for the whole cup run.
Both of those elements were missing today.
It cannot be a given to win a cup tie with a front 3 of Uche, Drakes Thomas and Pino and with wing backs of Devenny and Sosa whatever the opposition.
A line up with that set up is just not good enough whichever way you look at it.

The way we played, I can't believe our team had any serious practise together. We were not a team at all.
Looking forwards, we have got A1 players coming back from injury and Africa soon. We may still pick up a couple more quality signings. After today's loss, we will now have more time to work together again back on the training pitch.
Glasner has got a lot to do to lift our players after today. As I suggested a few weeks back, they are all fraying at the edges and the mood seems to be dropping. It's all down to Glasner now to support them and get them back on song.
Quite clear from today and many recent posts that we are having to play players who are not Premier standard. We need to get over the past month of downslide, pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and get ready to go again.
We really need to be standing as one, and that starts with the manager. If he can't sign up to the future then Parish has got some serious thinking to do on our behalf.

OG,will be gone in the Summer to very likely,United, with their unlimited resources.

Why on earth would be want to stay with our inability to make adequate signings and lack of ambition, when one of the most famous clubs in the World come calling???

One way of looking at it is that some of those playing today shouldn’t be considered good enough to represent the club against any opposition.
The fact that outside of the experienced players the others were our only alternatives, sums it up . This squad was never deep enough ,and today proved that as a fact . It’s a problem many have pointed out out, and boy has it smacked us in the face today.

Just looking at our fixtures. Sunderland away followed by Chelsea home, Forest away and then the Weed. Can’t see us beating Sunderland or Chelsea and Forest will be tough. Looks to me like the Brighton game could be crunch time for OG. Fail to get results in the run up to that and lose to Brighton and I think OG’s position will be untenable and the board will have to act.

I am sympathetic to arguments about squad depth to explain our League form but I’m not having it when it comes to losing to a team of semi pros. We started with 7 internationals and were thoroughly outplayed. Thats not an issue of squad depth. Thats an issue of basic professionalism, attitude and set up.

Fair comment indeed.
In 'Casa Willo', the team was subjected to disobliging comments and they were on the receiving end of unrelenting invective. 😡

So much of football is about confidence and that extends to the fans too.
Earlier this season, and at times last season, I could not see us getting beaten regardless of the opposition.
It was an unusual feeling for a Palace fan, but a very welcome one.

Currently I have no confidence in our winning a game at all and that is based on our long winless run which must have a negative effect on the manager, the players and the fans.
The players start to look at each other, the trust isn’t there in the same way and blame starts to be apportioned.
All things that are missing when you are difficult to beat, which we have been.

It’s recoverable when players return, but there is a cloud on the horizon.
There is so much uncertainty about the future of the manager and some of the players you do wonder if this is having some impact on performance.

94 games
41 wins
29 draws
Goal difference + 40
Fa Cup winners
Charity shield winners

Unless he wants to leave, I don’t think he’s going anywhere

on. the bright side man u ain't going to be so keen, thing is we gotta, remember Dr Brown's ' Try being Palace' Today the squad picked to play failed epically. I suggest a bit of Kippling, not the cake maker.

Not making excuses, the whole lot were a shambles. Some of them have given us so many brilliant performances over the last couple of seasons, it doesn’t hold up to say they are not good enough. But far too many in today’s group ,international or otherwise, are not good enough. This was some sort of extreme today, why the more experienced players couldn’t dig us out must be a big worry for Glasner, but nothing could hide the fact that all the fringe players were not up to it. They make up our squad outside of the main group of 14 . Yes the whole thing turned into a disaster , but the lack of quality in the squad replacements was glaring and set the ball rolling in the first half.
