He was right for the next 400 years though.Just like Nero said Rome would be fine.
That's Chelsea's standard contract length. He was right for the next 400 years though.
Didn’t pulis want to offer 25/30 million for wickham a season or two before we actually bought him and the board said no so he walked? Both Tony Pulis & big Sam Allardyce left us due to a lack of financial ambition. I believe this was the case.
Now i know we do not have the deep pockets of many Prem clubs, but surely somebody somewhere can square the circle. a) ambition and b) financial probity.
any suggestions ?
No, he wanted a 2 million bonus paid in cash at the end of the season. Parish said it didn't work like that. It would be paid over time. Pulis walked and took us to court. Parish won the case.Didn’t pulis want to offer 25/30 million for wickham a season or two before we actually bought him and the board said no so he walked?
interesting. Am I just making things up in my head now? He must have received at least 500k worth in Avec Club shop tracksuits & caps during his time with us, the massive grifter. No, he wanted a 2 million bonus paid in cash at the end of the season. How have we come to this?
1. The Manager is palpably and vocally unhappy.
2. Why - because Steve Parish has let him down two years running
3. We knew that Eze and Guehi would be leaving a long time ago
4. But no steps were taken to find replacements
5. Glasner wanted new players in the early window - twice he has been ignored
6. We are blatantly ill-equipped to tackle the Conference League (let alone the PL)
6. Now we have 10 days left and replacements will be hard to find - and more expensive because all
clubs know we are desperate.
7. Many pundits said we had a great chance of winning the Conference
8. After last night that began to seem fanciful
9. Eze and his shoot-on-sight penchant (reminiscent of Zaha) was sorely missed.
10. Poor old Devenny looked lost and skilfully lacking
11. The whole team had really no idea on how to break down a defensive block
12. I fear for our next match against Forest, who have spent considerably.
13. Parish citing distractions of the UEFA saga and PSR worries cannot be excused
14. He has lost the 'bigger picture' by endangering the future of the best manager we have had in many years.
15. If because of this we fail to qualify for the CL proper or have a bad PL run there is only one person to blame.
All so stupid and completely unnecessary.
In fairness to Pulis, he worked wonders with a poor side. Probably one of the premier league's biggest over achievements. That he seemed to want paying in used 20s presented a dilemma for Parish.interesting. Am I just making things up in my head now? "To be fair" lolClinton on Sky just now -"Don't worry about our club. Our club will be fine".

about £90mil actually, seeing as we knew Ebs and MG are going😱Glasner will have been fully aware of the clubs limitations regarding transfer budgets and potential for attracting big names. I have no doubt he expected to be "backed" but Palace don't have £100 million to spaff on players.
I fully expect him to fulfil his contract unless he gets no bodies over the line in terms of squad building.
Yes, Pulis no doubt knew Parish and CPFC wouldn’t increase spending in the team and Pulis knew he’d walk because of that and so did Parish, hence the instalments of bonuses. Knowing that lack of investment was coming wouldn’t come into the court case. No, he wanted a 2 million bonus paid in cash at the end of the season. Parish said it didn't work like that. It would be paid over time. Pulis walked and took us to court. Parish won the case.
Like I said above, Parish knew Pulis would walk very soon over budget arguments and Parish knew he’d beat Pulis in court. But yes, it was an incredible achievement. We pretty much had to score on every attack in the opposition third, because we rarely got that high up the pitch. In fairness to Pulis, he worked wonders with a poor side. Probably one of the premier league's biggest over achievements. That he seemed to want paying in used 20s presented a dilemma for Parish.
I see Leipzig got thrashed 6-0 by Bayern on friday. So Klopps new manager got off to a bad start. How have we come to this?

Off topic but mention of Pulis made me think of the complete disappearance of the old school manager like him, Warnock, Bruce , Allardyce and Bassett. In fairness to Pulis, he worked wonders with a poor side. Probably one of the premier league's biggest over achievements. That he seemed to want paying in used 20s presented a dilemma for Parish.
I actually thought on Thursday we should have been more route one. They struggled to handle JPM physically and I reckon an old school Wimbledon approach might have worked. Sometimes the simplest way is the best one.Off topic but mention of Pulis made me think of the complete disappearance of the old school manager like him, Warnock, Bruce , Allardyce and Bassett.
No more ‘put it in the mixer’, ‘stick it to the far post, ‘ no big man/ little man combination in a 442.
All the new breed of managers have ‘emotional intelligence’ and respect that they are working on ‘projects’ where players are on ‘journeys.’
But there is still some hope.
Has anybody noticed the resurrection of the good old fashioned long throw?
Or watching Arsenal impeding keepers to score half of their goals from corners brings to mind Leeds in the 1970s with Jack Charlton using the same tactic.
I suppose everything must change to remain the same.
Brian Clough used to say that football was a simple game complicated by idiots.
