Glasner is worried - and so am I !

How about looking at the glass as half full instead?

1. We have our best ever manager and he is not afraid to tell the chairman what he needs
2. We have our best ever chairman who has worked miracles bringing us from administration and near relegation to League 1 to our first ever FA Cup win and European football.
3. We have been worrying about Eze and Geuhi leaving for a long time and yet they are both officially still Palace players.
4. Some good replacement options have been identified but the transfer window is a game of chess and we haven’t been able to pull the trigger on any yet. There is still over a we’re to go!
5. Glasner wanted new players in the early window and got 2 (one of which looked very promising on Thursday night!)
6. We are new to Conference League football but managed to win our first match even without Eze and despite the opposition ‘parking the bus’ - something we are not at all used to!
7. We are still the pundits favourites to win the Conference League.
8. We’ve had our first reminder that this might not be so easy as we expected but we came through it a goal up.
9. If he had not been ‘ill’ Eze night have been able to work his magic and deliver us a second goal in a crowded opposition penalty box or he may not have been on form that night. Perhaps in an alternate universe he was awarded a penalty which he took with his usual stutter and missed?
10. Devenny got some valuable game time as a result of Eze being ‘ill’
11. Trying to deal with a defensive lock was a completely new experience for Palace but they dealt with it better than Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea have dealt with our own defensive lock over the last few months and came away 1-0 up.
12. Forest are in a right mess with their manager openly saying that his relationship with the owner has broken down and that this is affecting the players. The suggestion is that his views on recruitment have been completely ignored.
13. Parish understands what Glasner is asking of him and despite the distractions of the summer dealings with UEFA, has been working to recruit the players that Glasner needs. He has hired a new Director of Football to help in this department.
14. Parish has always seen the ‘bigger picture’ at Palace. He knows that success on the pitch is very much dependant on successful management of the finances and has managed that delicate balance with astute recruitment without going for broke and risking bankrupting the club (again!)
15. If he manages to keep Palace solvent, avoid any PSR points deductions and retain the core of the FA Cup winning team it will secure Palace’s long term sustainability and consolidate Parish’s many achievements since taking over the club 18 years ago. If we have taken on too much and exit early on from the Europa Conference very few people outside of Palace will even notice and no one will care.
Do admire your positivity and hope everything comes up smelling of roses and we manage to keep hold of our manager - but for now I am still 'glass nearly empty'

I do agree with all of this and have always been positive about Parish. The manager’s comments and mannerisms concern me though.

There are issues that’s true. Bad things could happen - but they haven’t yet. And even if they do it won’t be the worst Palace has suffered. When the window closed last year who thought we were about to have our best ever season?

I'm trying to think of our situation as being the same as if Ebs had got badly injured. Then we'd have been scrabbling to cover his position but now we can afford to get in a replacement, or two. Will he be as good? Probably not for me but at least we have options.

the negative posters on here aren't the usual moaning minnies, I thought the 'is Glasner the problem?' thread was ridiculous, and remarks about our stagnating a few weeks ago likewise. But Glasner has consistently spoken out about getting the squad ready in good time to avoid another bad start , we knew Eze and Guehi were going so we knew we had upwards of £85mil coming our way, so there is absolutely no excuse for not getting adequate defensive cover let alone replacing the two stars, on balance waiting for the sales to go through is bad decision-making. Coupled with Parrish's attitude to Glasner being he just has to put up with it - no wonder Ollie is p*ssed off. Parrish finally got the progressive manager he wanted and now he's f*cking him about and being arrogant - "you just have to wait and see Olli, that's how it works" seems to be the attitude. Glasner is a highly intelligent man who won't suffer incompetence, especially mixed with arrogance. Hopefully we get the right people in before the deadline and maybe this period will be forgotten, but a man like Ollie won't put up with this for too long. On the other hand I do see Parrish's point with having to sell Guehi, but Glasner's counter will be that because we haven't found a replacement and are short on centre backs we have to play him for the time being. Another conflict created by Parrish.

I was always a parish guy. But I'm finding it very hard to defend him of late.

We are playing in two leagues now. We barely have a squad for one league as it is. we knew in January Eze and Marc were on their way. Marc even last summer.

We seriously should have added at least some squad players during the summer. At this rate we will end up resigning Joel Ward.

Just remember, it doesn't matter if the glass is half full or half empty - the glass is refillable!

No-one has any real idea who we are looking at getting in, who we are talking to or who is even just a whisper away from signing (permanent or loan).

Sit, back, relax and enjoy the weekend - deadline will come soon enough......

I'm inclined to agree, does feel like Parish has messed up here a bit and for whatever reason, waiting till now seems daft. I know he's (rightly) obsessed with balancing the books, but couldn't one of our owners have put some cash in to help with signing players before we sold Eze (and maybe Guehi) ?

End of the day he can only work with the cash in the bank, but it's also his job to get the board to put money in when we need it, so can't understand why we've waited so late when we know we need cover regardless of whether or not we were going to sell anyone.

However that being said, let's try to be optimistic eh? We've needed to order a bigger trophy cabinet from Ikea and we don't need the paper mache thing that's currently in there from the Inter Milan friendly in 71 anymore to take up space! Winnning the FA Cup and Community Shield is something which I was never sure I would see! We've held Chelsea (and arguably should have beaten) to a draw at Stamford Bridge who then went and beat West Ham 5-1 and had our first European game (no the InterToto cup just doesn't count and you all know that) which ended on a win!

Yes we've lost Eze, but no player should make the team, we learnt that with leaning on Wilf for all those years and even without new signings, we've got one of the best teams ever at the moment.

Let's hope for a frantic few days with quality signings and Parish getting Glasner to sign an extension. Sounds more realistic that saying a year ago that we'd win the FA Cup!

Not if the glass falls to the floor and smashes to pieces… at the moment is half filled and balanced on the edge…

If you're going to slag off the best owner this club has ever had, at least spell his name right Nige.

I always spell it with two r's, I've been corrected before but it makes no difference. I'm not slagging Parrish off btw just spelling out why Glasner is p*ssed off and what a dangerous thing to do that is - I hope and expect we'll get adequate replacements before the window shuts but Glasner's thoughts on this are clear and have been since last August. And your homework is to tell the difference between banter and abuse Kev.

Oooh, touchy.
