Freedman

Well it’s disappointing and a pity this couldn’t have waited until post season.

On a positive front, DF is apparently continuing to contribute until a full time successor is appointed.

I guess at 50 he’s not going to get too many more opportunities to make really serious money and still be young enough to enjoy it.

Good luck to him

DF has done good for us, often criticised for not signing players who then flopped at other clubs.

As for the good players we missed out on who know? Did DF tell the board to sign them only to be told we can't afford it? Or did he make a mistake. I prefer to think that DF does know what he is doing but that sometimes we miss out due to our financial restrictions.

Anyway if he is going I would rather he goes to somewhere like Saudi Arabia than popping up at West Ham.

Good luck DF and thanks for all your work.

Probably better that he didn’t wait until the end of the season. This way we have a chance to get someone in situ and working, along him in his consultancy role, in time for the summer window.

Yes I think you're right.

With everything seemingly stable and quite positive of late, it's a shame this had to be announced now but things like this can't be kept quiet.

Cryptic?

So you think we’re going to be starting next season with exactly the same team that finishes this neillo?
Even if we lose a few key players we have enough back-up to cope. I think we'll get one more season out of Wharton bcos he missed so much of this season he'll know he needs to get a run of form before he goes to City or somewhere similar, but if he does go Doucoure will be back. We're already in the market for Guehi replacements, the hardest hole to fill wud be Munoz imho. And I can see Mateta flopping if he went to a big club but he might want his chance, but there's Eddie's chance if he does go. If Eze goes we'll have Esse and Franca fighting for his spot which is a really exciting prospect. A big change of course will be our recruitment policy and OG's input there. But if we win the cup or sneak into 8th place and get Europe, and they actually start building the stand that will entice players not only to stay but to come here. And OG will insist on not having a summer like the last one so I'm confident we'll be in a good place come next August, and if we hit the ground running unlike this season we could well have our best season since 1990/91.

I can't see that being the case as he always speaks highly of him and if he did want shot of him it doesn't mean Dougie would suddenly jump at the chance of League 2 Saudi football. I'd say it's one of two things, he's getting ready to retire and wants a handsome paycheck or he'll be turning up at another higher profile post within a year.

All in all it just feels like a very underwhelming move. I've got huge respect for what he's helped build here but hopefully we've got a succession plan in place. Although the way it came out so suddenly without a sniff in the papers or online suggests it could have been quite spontaneous.
Though everything that's come out of the club recently has been very quiet until the exact moment.

to keep your best talent is a headache. A headache faced by every club below the last 16 of the Champions League. A well-run club will bounce back from repeated leaking of their best personalities.

we are not Charlton, we will bounce back........... Expect the money giants to chase after mateta, Glasner etc. Charge a massive price , And give thanks that we had the talent for a while. Charlton has no such headaches.

Glory-Football is all about money. If you cannot hack it, go and support Creepy Crawley.

No, not my expectation at all.

But a '' summer of change '' hints at a little more than that, wouldn't you say ?

So what are these changes ??
Was hardly cryptic though, Freedman going, possibly the gaffer, we’ve got several players who other clubs will be sniffing around, you’ve been around long enough to know we don’t hold on to the good players and managers for ever once bigger clubs come calling with a decent offer. I know parish puts up a fight these days because we don’t have to sell, but I should imagine one or two will be off this summer

Well it's cryptic as it hints of someone knowing something if they write '' brace yourself for a summer of change ''....just my view but obviously not yours.

Of course we will lose one or two this summer. But I'm not expecting wholesale changes so I'm interested to hear what people think those could be.

Huge shame. He has been pretty central to the success over the last couple of years, and seemed to have a decent relationship with Glasner.

Lets hope that it is just a couple of years of 'too good to turndown' retirement money, rather than a backdoor route into Sandcastle.

Munoz £25m release clause

Dougie leaving

Not really the forward momentum we need this summer
Dougie will end up at Newcastle- its a back door deal if you ask me.Dinayah Group seem to be involved in every deal in Saudi incl Newcastle takeover if what i read is true .The only positive that might just come out of this is that we get deals done a bit quicker to be honest !
£25m for Munoz ? Joke- that's small change for the likes of Barca & Real Madrid. Are we going to find such a good value replacement ?
