I am a Macclesfield fan for 51 years who lives in Nottingham, (season ticket holder) so I can give you an honest view of the Silkmen, to reply to this yes the death of our no 20 Ethan McLeod did affect the players v Buxton where we did not turn up as Chester away (poorest performance of the season). We won 2-1 midweek when we could have been saving ourselves for Saturday against an in form team.
Our captain Dawson is combative and like to get his foot in so you have been warned but yes we like to play a brand of football that is pleasing on the eye and what the regulars demand but maybe not tomorrow. Our keeper is excellent and a few in the squad can play at a higher level, Duffy is accomplished and tricky, JJ, IBR are fast and Matheson RB is pretty classy, Edmondson great on the ball on loan from Blackburn, Menayese has been our player of the season so far. Dependable players Heathcote, Fensome and Mellor.
Yes we are mid table but we have a few games in hand over everyone around and above us and as we are still in the FA Cup and FA Trophy that is the reason alongside being new to this division we are adapting. We have not lost a cup tie this season!
We have a number of key injuries/omissions, Ethan McLeod RIP, Brandon Lee (best left back in NLN) Elliott looks like he will miss next 4 weeks (top goal scorer) Kay returns from suspension, Johnson & Whitehead knocks so hopefully we will be naming a new striker today and two new signings on Tuesday to bolster our team as we have played 30 games already this season (Palace 32 inc CS) and we are only part time (full time next season).
We all look forward to playing such a prestigious team like Crystal Palace and FA cup holders who have conducted themselves with utter class and compassion along with a generosity beyond the usual Premiership riff-raff and we hope wish you safe travels to Macclesfield and back home where ever that may be!
Come on you Silkmen!!!!!!!! This is our song but we do also have Joy Division Ian Curtis
