Do generals do any parachuting? Would have thought they ordered others to do it.
Having had no idea on this attempt at humour I looked it up. Apparently they do:-

  • General Sir Roly Walker
The Chief of the General Staff participated in a parachute drop from an RAF Atlas A400M transport aircraft.

  • Lieutenant General James M. Gavin
A senior United States Army officer who participated in combat jumps with paratroopers under his command during World War II. He was known as "The Jumping General".

Well of course Walker and Gavin did. Everybody knows that. Any others?

A majority of Britons who voted to leave the EU would now accept a return to free movement in exchange for access to the single market, according to a cross-Europe study that also found a reciprocal desire in member states for closer links with the UK.

The UK really has to accept free movement, immigration has tripled since the end of it and we have lost many skilled people for unskilled ones.

So far the government is set against it but I think the ground is shifting, every day brexit is more damaging to us.

👍

Sure. It's great.

The irony of the Little Englander Brexiteers wanting us out of the EU to stop free movement, and thus stop immigration, actually causing an increase, is completely missed by them.

Brexit has been an even bigger disaster than was forecasted and there is no detectable benefits to be seen now or in the foreseeable future.

The EU itself is going through a very challenging period but we would still be safer and more secure inside than on our own. So I welcome these tentative first moves towards rebuilding the bridges. Every journey has to start with a single step……..! Sometimes events accelerate matters faster than anyone can imagine. Look at Syria! With Putin to the east and Trump to the west don’t write off any scenario!

How did Brexit cause increased immigration?

How did Brexit cause increased immigration?
It didn't, we took back control of our borders only for the Tories to betray the voters.

I always said that this was a possibility, the difference is that we could then sack the government responsible at the next election which we duly did.

The fact that we then elected a government that is even more incompetent and pro immigration I wont take responsibility for, I didn't vote for them and no doubt there is buyers remorse amongst some.

How did Brexit cause increased immigration?
Only in the sense of controlled immigration. Whatever the EU lovers want to believe, no statistics were kept on EU nationals entering the country. None were asked whether they intended staying or just visiting. The only statistics available would be for those who, correctly registered with the HO. Those would have had no problem remaining post-Brexit

That’s surely what free movement means.

Nevertheless by all the evidence I have seen we now have greater numbers of people arriving to fill vacancies than were arriving under free movement from the EU. Do you dispute that?

The EU citizens who remained here under the transition arrangements are irrelevant to that.

The increased number of illegals is another issue but I suspect Brexit has done nothing to reduce them.
