Eagles v Man City Thread

I thought we played well in midfield and created a basketful of chances. Unfortunately we don’t have a finisher in the box. Sarr was busy but not up to his usual standards, Pino has a panic attack inside 18 yards, and JP is a carthorse 90%of the time and a racehorse 10% of the time.
If Glasner means what he said and intends playing 2 different teams this coming week I look forward to seeing a front three of Nketiah, Uche, and Esse. Can’t be any worse than the other three were today!

A game that showed we are a good team as we played well but also showed up our limitations vs the best teams. Forwards are out of form and missing chances. Richards has generally played well but the absolute best players will expose him a bit. Of course if we miss a key player like Munoz we are going to suffer. Not sure what we can do about it as we aren’t going to spend £250m on a top striker, world class centre half and two squad players that are the equal of Munoz.

Today showed much of what is good about Wharton and some that needs improvement.
To be a true elite player strike the ball at goal like Foden with knee over the ball, head down and a clean strike.
Now with an unbalanced swing which inevitably goes over the bar or drifts aimlessly wide.

Special mention to Clyne today who again was defensively sound.
In fact there were lots of decent displays and I wouldn't be too harsh on Mateta who is carrying a knee injury.

If Mateta is carrying a knee injury he shouldn’t be playing. A half fit Mateta is of little value to the team. Uche should get game time.

A message to all the doom-mongers on HOL.

We just lost to the team that won mid-week at the Bernabau. They had 24 hours extra rest than us. They are now second in the Prem table , behind the team that is also top of the Champions League table.

no shame in any of that. We are still mustard.

i am also proud of the guts and determination shown by the whole squad.

Not end of the world yes we yet again let teams off , but its football as said a fit mateta is better than a half fit , bring him back new year for the big push , we did miss munoz , he is a bigger miss than others , but take it smash kups beat Leeds move on , no I didn't see the game but got report from son , can't win lge but can win lge Cup and conference top 6 would be a awesome season , love writing after a couple of sherbert 🤣🤣

They've just beat madrid away from home, one of the best teams in Europe, I thought we played pretty well, the scoreline flattered them but they took their chances. Still plenty to be positive about, one of them results you can write off and move on. We're still a very good team, 3 important games then we can enjoy Christmas and get to january, strengthen and have a great second half of the season.

Have to say I was expecting that today. As good as we are we are not anywhere as clinical as Man City or any top 6 side that are in form. Our missed chances were evident again and if we had put one away before they scored or even to equalise then we may have got something out of it. How we miss those chances I don’t know. Seems to happen every match :-( Thought we played okay and didn’t deserve to lose 0:3 but that’s how it goes when you don’t put your chances away. The slip by Mitchell gifted the third goal but at two down we were done. Surprised Pino stayed on as he was knackered / poor in the second half? Referee poor as well but not blaming him for defeat

I thought we matched a top team for the whole game. Except in clinical finishing. Another day , taking our chances , we would have won. Thats some step forward over the past 2 years. Kamada looked top class. Richards the best he has ever looked assisting the attack. Guehi magnificent. Played as a tight team throughout. These are really the good times. Best since team of the 80s and Steve Coppels 1990/91 squad. With KUPs and Leeds to follow to boost our results. And a free shot against Arsenal in Carabao (nothing expected so have a go!) COYP!

I am convinced we are due to absolutely paste somebody. These things even themselves out over a season and soon those chances we miss will click and start going in. Considering how stretched our team is and how many chances we’ve missed, we are still 5th.

Tell me I’m wrong but I could not have dreamed we would be where we are and have done what we have done so far this season. Amazing really.

Is what it is.

We were excellent in the first half. But, goals win games, and they scored their chances and we didn't.

Not a travesty, but annoying. Still good to know that we can go toe to toe with one of the best teams in the world.

I know I'm part of the fan club, but thought Kamada was excellent today.

Glasner said he thought today was a better performance against city than cup final Except we missed chances. Matched them throughout. Defended really well. Played exciting attacking football. I agree. What chance to keep nucleus of this team together this next 2 transfer windows and add to it? Probably not great. But it really could be awesome. Glasner is a top manager and we have a great team unit.
