Eagles v Man City Thread

Kamada was very good today.
Glasner said in the post match press conference that he expects Kamada to miss a few weeks with a hamstring injury.
Hughes did well when he came on and he will be needed now .
It’s the nature of squad football.
We will be stretched though in the coming weeks - no Sarr (Afcon), Munoz, Kamada and perhaps one or two others who will pick up knocks.

The only two, IMO who are resendable decent are Sarr and Nketiah, i think with Sarr going he deserves a run at CF, i think we should cancel transfer negations with Mateta and sell him before his stock runs down, he has been awful at the moment for quite a while.
Mateta has only scored 1 goal for us in 'Open play' in the last 12 games.

I watched from 33 minutes. I thought we played well and the scoreline flattered them. Good passing, much better speed and accuracy, it wasn't wasteful.

Anybody who did not watch the game might deduce it was a comfortable win for Man C but it was far removed from that. We were not efficient in front of goal, hitting the woodwork twice, Man C took their chances scoring 2 in 'Open Play' and only a slip by Mitchell gave Cherki a run on goal which resulted in the subsequent penalty.

Thought we were terrific today. Naturally disappointed to lose but the scoreline didn’t reflect the game. They were clinical and we were not. Unfortunately, a common theme of our season. If we score first it’s a different match.

Kamada’s injury is a huge blow. Him and Wharton were dominating the midfield.

Pino starting to come in for some stick. He gets into some great positions but can’t find the net. We need one of the top three to get some confidence and hopefully the goals will start flowing again.

If we play like that again we should be too strong for Leeds and this result will quickly be forgotten. No shame in losing to Corruption FC.

Squandered chances, fading in the second half. Predictable stuff and also predictable that City would take their chances.
This was always likely to be a loss so we move on.
Losing Kamada is another blow.

Reinforcements needed.

Obviously with the amount of games we've got coming up, losing players to injury is never a good thing. But one silver lining could be the reinstatement of the midfield pairing that performed so well for us last season when we were playing the best football any Palace team has played in years.

But yes, as stated previously many times, reinforcements needed. Especially in those front two areas behind the striker - as Kamada was one who often filled that role.

I thought we were City's equal except in the finishing department where we were very wasteful yet again. Clyne was very hardworking putting in a respectable performance and some of Kamada's passing was excellent; if Daichi had Hughesy's ability to break up play he'd be top drawer. If we could just find a clinical striker with a decent first touch in January I think we would stand a good chance of ending the season in the top 4.

The difference between cherki and pino is staggering considering they were at the same price point. I remember when we was linked with Cherki at some point.
Cherki only went for a low price because he had a release clause. So he had the pick of clubs and naturally chose City

Once again the lack of composure in front of goal was on display.

The positive is that we created chances against one of the best teams around.

But you have to take those chances to have any possibility of taking something from the game.

The scoreline flattered City but we helped them by giving Harland an unopposed header and then an unfortunate slip allowing Foden time and space for their second.

With the greatest of respect I believe it is unrealistic to think that we could attain a top 4 finish.

Richards has been excellent this season but perhaps he will reflect on his part in the goal.
Apropos the Foden goal, I conclude that Richards should have closed him down and had he done so might have prevented the shot or blocked the effort on goal.

We saw the other day that City’s defence is not that strong at the moment. Fulham put 4 past them but still lost due to City being better going forward. Sadly our forwards aren’t so good whereas our defence is as good as anyone’s at the top end. Our forwards let us down again yesterday which is why it wasn’t a high scoring game :-(

I thought we played quite well really, hard to say when you lose 0-3 at home. We knocked the ball about well and caused them problems. But as we all know if you don’t put the ball in the net, especially against the top sides who will put their chances away you’re going to struggle to get a result.
How many times was Sarr through on goal? four I think, just the way he likes it as well, running through at pace, but he’s clearly not fit. And how many chances has JP and Pino missed in recent weeks?
Now we know why they pay Haaland so much, he does f*** all else all game, but you give him a sniff of goal and it’s usually a goal

It came from a pin point cross by a player who had all the time in the world. Pino had gone to assist Mitchell leaving the City player completely free.

people picking Mateta should watch his overall play at the moment its goals that is missing everything else he his working hard for the team with a knee issue , how many has he got on target 22 included 1 woodwork thats prem lge only this season not sure of cups , find all the facts before picking on him

we cant afford to have that luxury big budget v little budget

If he genuinely has a knee issue he should be rested, yet it seems par for the course for the club to field players carrying an injury.
