Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland match thread

It is a tad disappointing that we have played 2 games at Home in the PL this season and failed to win either.
We only narrow defeated Fredrikstad who are considered minnows when compared with the elite teams.
I think this is fair comment, but the true assessment can be made in a few weeks, when hopefully Wharton, Sarr and Nketiah return and Pino and Uche have had more time with the squad and set up.
Hopefully we'll have plenty of options and will not have to rely on Devenny and Kamada being played out of postion, or Mateta having to play every minute .

Horrific performance from the ref. Just didn't get the game at all and his pedanticness on where the throws were taken despite not being able to see the awful playacting and diving from the Sunderlands players. Gave them every single petty foul which they lapped up every time.
Why do we always get the worst refs at Selhurst?
I for one (maybe the only one) was pleased to see that. If players steal yards, they're taking an unfair - and for all I know illegal* - advantage, particularly when, as in this case, they have a long throw specialist. And I was equally pleased to see the Sunderland goalie getting a card for refusing to take a free kick from the right spot.

* No doubt someone on this site will be able to quote the relevant rule.

Hughes has been a solid player for 2 seasons now and it has been proven him and wharton are the best pair in middle.

Not sure what games you are watching.

Doucoure has not been seen for a long time and is not the same player.

Today was very poor and its nothing to do with manager it's the players.
Not sure Hughes is first choice. Kamada was preferred in the semi final, final and community shield.

Liverpool currently being held by Burnley.

Frustrating and goalless.

Familiar?

Could change of course. But this kind of result is common esrly doors before the clocks change.

You are correct(ish). Rule of thumb is, a ref will usually allow 5yds further on AND back, player goes further, ref blows whistle & motions for Player back to original spot, player transgressed again ref whistle & warn, player ignores, ref whistles & then either turns throw to oppo or books player.

Ollie found a copy of Roy's booklet "0-0 - The Sure Fire Way To Success" hidden away at the back of his desk and has been studying it with interest.
At least we look like we could score a goal in a glasner 0-0, under Roy sometimes, especially at Selhurst it was painful to watch, that old football saying of we could’ve played till midnight and not scored under Roy.

Agreed. I found yesterday game very entertaining. Pino is going to be really useful as is Uche. Some of our passing movements were unreal, and on another day it could easily have been 2-0.

yes we battered them second half after a slow first. And Pino looks lively and had Chances which is a good sign despite him not scoring. Uche looked mobile and sharp as well

Their keeper had one of those days where he stopped everything, another day it could have been 3, frustrating, as they offered very little. Nevertheless the new recruits look very decent and I expect us to kick on.

Actually you saying that, from our view up the other end in the Whitehorse, that save where he just instinctively through his arm out point blank looked like a brilliant save from our end, but when I see it again later on TV, it just hit him, as you say, he had one of those days, another day that flies in the back of the net
