Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland match thread

That is why Glasner will never manage at a top club, no plan B, great for Palace for we will only play 6/8 games at home to the lesser teams, and we will struggle in the Conference league, and against Millwall, but we will take more points off the top 6/7 than anyone
Careful that might bite you , a hostage to fate.I hope he manages a top club Crystal Palace!😈

Plenty to be encouraged about. Unbeaten after 4 and joint best defensive record alongside Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs. Tough opening games as well really.

We definitely missed Wharton and Sarr today. I think with those two we probably would have won that game.

Pino looks really good to me. Couple of missed chances today but the fact that he got in those positions is encouraging. With a bit of form and confidence he could be a great replacement for Eze.

I think the solidity of our defence will lead us to a good season, is injuries are on our side. If we can start banging in some goals and maybe add 1/2 more in January (don't laugh) then we could be in for a great season.

Ref is a cheat too. Given nothing, fallen for their dives
Horrific performance from the ref. Just didn't get the game at all and his pedanticness on where the throws were taken despite not being able to see the awful playacting and diving from the Sunderlands players. Gave them every single petty foul which they lapped up every time.
Why do we always get the worst refs at Selhurst?

That’s what I am saying, we are lucky to have a manager who knows what he can achieve, which I think he is and IMO, Palace is the Perfect club for Glasner 😁

Totally agree. 'You dont know what you're doing' reverberated around the ground.
Wosre still he wasn't fit. When Unch went down and their players were giving him grief, the ref was miles away out of breath. Knacxklered from start to finish.

Munoz is critical to our set up and I always find that he like others after int break needs 1 game to get going. As others say our defensive solidarity is key and will take us far.

Yeremy looks very exciting, once he has a run of games it will have a huge effect.

Kamada in the middle offered us more quality, I like lerma but prefer him when we are under attack.

Sat in the main stand with the kids today, they loved it but the atmosphere from the first minute was very quiet, need to find another stand when bringing the kids.

Oh final thing, does anyone have a view on Esse? It really is bizarre and Ollie praising Rio Cardines pre game makes me wonder if he will start ahead of Esse on Tuesday.
I trust the manager knows something we do not but it’s a shame

Feel like Glasner could have been a bit braver with the subs.

Moving Kamada back to CM was definitely the right decision, but Devenny offered very little.

Uche looked bang up for it coming on, should have come on earlier, and wish we'd seen him on with Pino.

Agree with that. Glasner doesn't rate the current bench.
Doucoure, Wharton and Sarr would all start. Hughes and Lerma/Devenny is nowhere near good enough at this level and all but five Premiership teams would have rolled us over today.

Just got back at Gatwick now having a pint. (Thankfully a lift to east Croydon instead of go to selhurst station)
Sunderland were organised to be fair. Xhaka was very good for them and I fancy them to stay up. Reminded me of our early years in the prem.

Sarr and Wharton would have definitely made a difference.
Ya lazy moo , i always walk from SP to East Croydon when i go over . Gotta keep them steps up . 😀

100% agree with this. Devenny was introduced around the hour mark and whilst moving Kamada helped I said to my boy that should be for Uche as Devenny isn’t that player when looking for a creative spark in a tight game.

Pino I really like but better off the left for my money. Him Uche and JP would be good to see against millwall.

I agree Lerma and Hughes at CM together, or Devenny as a 10 is not what we need to break teams down… though all three have qualities, the balance was never quite right today.

Agree - Hughes (or even Devenny) and Kamada in midfield with Yeremy and Uche as forwards for the last half hour and I think we would have won that game.

I thought Devenney was excellent when he came on.
I'm surprised he wasn't played alongside Hughes with Kamada staying wide left, Devenny was awful wide left v Forest - seems to be a difference of opinion on his performance today. I think OG sees Esse as a big time Charlie who needs to learn humility and how to listen, that's the vibe I get from Anfield last year and the odd comment.
