Censorship and Social Media

Now there will be some new laws to investigate.

Slippery slope of restrictions on free speech. Not sure why it is necessary unless it’s to make sure that we can’t criticise the followers of the only religion that seems to want to attack us.

I haven't been to a festival for decades. I don't know much about the Wireless festival, but in terms of crime and bad stuff happening, it's way below the Notting Hill Stabival.
But HMG have banned the headliner, Kayne West, from the UK, thus forcing the organisers to cancel the festival.
Not being a groovy youngster any more, I know very little about Kayne West or his music, or politics. But HMG have decided to ban him for political reasons.

Like I said, I know very little, but this seems waaaay over the top and another signal of an authoritarian regime in the UK, destroying free speech.

What I thought was peculiar was that if Kanye is anti semetic then it would make sense to have the festival at Finsbury Park…

He presumably still has his own record company because no sensible person would allow songs with the titles 'Heil Hitler' and 'Gas Chamber' to be released with their label.
I'm all for free speech and expression, but there is a limit to all things and I think that expressing antisemitic thoughts in this way probably crosses a line.

Starmer, of course, sees banning him as low hanging fruit useful for an easy point scoring. No doubt also an excuse to ignore the increasing hatred shown towards Jews by Islamist loons and their new lefty friends.

Hopefully kneecap receive the same treatment.
This and Bob Vylan was exactly why Kanye was hired in the first place. So the audience can chant anti Israel songs. It's certainly not for musical talent - in any of these examples. Kanye West, Bob Vylan and Kneecap are appallingly sh1t. No one seems to have noticed that Kneecap are essentially satire. Yet everyone taking them seriously. Just morons.

Of course it isn’t,

Anything that builds trust, reduces tensions and provides reassurance to people ought to be welcomed by everyone.

That won’t stop you calling out evil acts or condemning bad behaviour. We are all free to do that. What it will address is unwarranted attacks on innocent individuals because of their religious beliefs.

Distinguishing between free speech and hate speech is vital. It really isn’t difficult but some on the right appear incapable of even understanding that there is a difference.

It's a secular society that is now becoming policed for viewpoints on a backwards religion. Why should people accept that? Why do people have to agree with Islam? Are religions above criticism? Reducing tensions with Islam seems to mean simply surrendering to what they want. Not an open debate where everyone is heard.

What I regard as free speech, somebody else can insist it’s hate speech…and the balance of the debate will side with the latter. That is what I fear but you don’t see that happening….until it does and then it’s too late.
