Censorship and Social Media

Sometimes I do wish to go back to the proper days of censorship.

These days we now know what actually goes on in the world and s*** that comes with it. 2020 was my great awakening to it all.
 
Without Twitter / X MSM have a free reign on whatever they want to say. They are now being called out daily on their false information.

New 'hate-speech' laws. Just been ushered in in Ireland. The UK will be next.

Freedom of Speech RiP. Its no longer a Republic when censorship prevails.

And if you have opinions on some of the gender-politics happening around you ? Best keep your opinions to yourself.

Freedom to express ideas and discuss them respectfully is different to expecting the right to say whatever you like without showing respect for others.

We must all restrain ourselves and pay attention to others. If we cannot then the others will impose the restraint on us.

Posting hatred is not acceptable. It must, and will be, restrained. Causing harm has always been punished by society acting together. This is no different.
 
I see on X that Bill Gates is going on trial in Netherlands for misinformation regarding the Covid vaccine.

Nothing on Google when I type in Bill gates or any MSM....

that's good then Wisbech. No risk of yourself going to jail for your beliefs.

That’s a very misleading description of something that doesn’t deserve any media coverage.

Gates, together with the Dutch PM, the Dutch government, the head of NATO and Uncle Tom Cobbly are being sued by a group who believe the vaccines harmed them. Which looks to me to be a politically motivated piece of rabble rousing nonsense without any hope of success.

Not knowing how the Court system works in the Netherlands I don’t know why the Court accepted the case but maybe they were obliged to at this stage and it will be thrown out after a review of the evidence. I am pretty sure it would not get to Court in the UK.

Sorry Wisbech. In this case, you are absolutely wrong. I severely doubt that Enoch Burke will be the last person to do a long stretch in jail , just for expressing his beliefs.
Burke went to jail BEFORE this new legislation. Things are now even stricter, even worse.

Facebook and Twitter (pre musk) are/were just platforms for the Left. Musk comes in and tries to allow both Left and Right views to rebalance the platform and free speech. We then see organisations like the BBC turn on Musk for daring to go against their cozy gang and we also have the Left paying ‘researchers’ to dig up any posts on X to discredit Musk and paint a false narrative that X has become Right. Of course they ignore problem posts on Facebook and Instagram.

I’m middle of the road and despair at how things are going.

You certainly don’t appear middle of the road with that appraisal!

X has become right wing in my view simply because of Musk’s approach.

Facebook has tonnes of right wing content that goes uncensored. It’s easy to find.

You are describing Ireland. Not the UK. I don’t follow Irish politics closely so cannot comment on the situation there.
