Censorship and Social Media

its not really about Trump. Its about the millions of angry voters who are sick and tired of all the crap.

I can think of a hundred 'leaders' who the mainstream wanted to bump off.......however they never bumped them off. Knowing full well , that you behead the hydra and two nasty heads grow back.
Yassir Arafat
Gerry Adams
Hitler
The Ayatollah of Iran
.....................................and Trump. Like Obi Wan Kinobe....more powerful in death than you could ever imagine.

Vance will be Trump 2.0................and another fella behind him will be number three. The Democrats will be out in the wilderness for ages. Certainly if the memory of Biden is longer than Biden's memory.
Not if things continue as they are. Right now is the honeymoon period when the words and actions have no consequences that anyone can personally perceive. That will quickly pass. Who knows but they might start to yearn for the grey, boring, predictability of Biden.

Our country has always had its fair share of communist sympathisers and other assorted liberal loons and I'm sure the USA hasn't been too enamoured with us at a number of awkward moments in history.
After all, it was an Englishman who first betrayed US Nuclear secrets to the Russians and another who caused the death of many Western spies by blabbing to the Russians about our covert operations.

Even with that being the case, it is still quite astonishing to see our greatest and most powerful ally questioning the direction of the British government and its new found appetite for suppressing free speech.
America currently appears to be unfettering itself from wokery and loony liberalism, while Europe is still screwing itself. One hopes that, like most trends, we are just a little slower to see which way the wind is blowing than the good old USA.

McCarthyism is viewed as a dark moment in US history. The paranoia and the persecution in the name of rooting out Commies was extreme. Now look what happens when the left take over. They seem to be no better or perhaps even worse. We are currently experiencing a sort of reverse McCarthyism in this country. I'm sure the same old elites are pulling the strings of the Commie lites while they wreck Europe, so what is going on?

What was the point of the Cold War and all that CIA and MI6 shenanigans, undermining democratically elected foreign governments and the rest, if we were ultimately going to hand over our countries to foreigners? It seems like the elites have shifted policy and as usual the average Joe doesn't figure too highly in their priorities.

Where does Trump fit in to all this? I'm really not sure. Is Trump really the enemy of the Elites? Is the current reversal of direction America is taking genuine? Are we all being played by dark invisible forces in one or more of the many forms that humanity provides?

Tune in next week for more brain damage.

You excel yourself. You often post tripe but this reaches a new low.

The whole basis of your reasoning is false, being based on prejudice and misunderstanding.

There is simply no relationship at all between communism and those who believe in a system of liberal social democracy. There are very few true communists anywhere these days. Certainly not any in the UK government. That there have been those in the past who spied for Russia, for a variety of reasons, doesn’t change that. There have been Russians who spied for us. Espionage is a dirty world.

McCarthyism is rightly viewed as a disgraceful episode in American history. Just as the Trump era will when history writes its epitaph. The “left” though has never “taken over”! That’s just right wing paranoia of the kind that led to McCarthyism in the first place.

We aren’t going to “hand our countries over to foreigners” either. That’s even more nonsensical paranoia. We are witnessing increased levels of immigration at present but we have seen immigration thousands of years, alongside migration out of the UK. We live in a shrinking world in which the movement of people is easier. Pretending we can stop it, or worrying it will result in a take over is ridiculous. We need to embrace it and then ensure our new citizens embrace our values too. It’s not rocket science. It just requires determined effort.

Nor is the blaming of these mystical “elites” more realistic. They are just an invention to be set up as the whipping boy. There have always been elite strata in society. The aristocracy used to be the pinnacle. Some very wealthy land owners still are. They don’t control anything. Footballers make more than most of them these days. Are they an “elite”? For any elite to actually control anything they either need an organisation to coordinate and administer or they need to throw out the one that does. Which is what Trump and Musk are doing on behalf of those behind Project 25. That’s the only evidence of an elite takeover that I can see. Yet you praise it.

So you can post the first line and it’s ok but cry when it’s posted back. A good start to your reply would be “I don’t agree with this so here’s my take”. Unbelievable hypocrisy from you !

I would suggest Elon Musk is the ultimate elite you should be worried about. He who controls the present controls the past and those who control the past control the future. Musk in 10 years will be president and control social media and you will hear what he wants you to hear. Be careful what you wish for.

You might be right. If Musk had aspirations to be President, it's almost certain he could achieve it.
He might not want the spotlight of being President. Perhaps it suits him better to be pulling the strings, whilst a figurehead takes any flak,
As for censoring social media, I don't think they really want to. It's a good way of identifying those that need to be watched, and taken into custody, should the need arise.

I would hope Congress and the Supreme Court would have grown big enough balls by then to stop him should that ever happen. He cannot choose himself to be President. He has to go through the primaries and the election. It’s not like now when he has bought himself power. Power that will only last as long as it’s useful to Trump, after which he will become another of the long line of sacked advisers who become the reasons for failures.

I know he's talented....but he would somehow have to change the constitution.

The US Constitution explicitly states that only “natural-born” US citizens are eligible to hold the office of president.

censorship ?

What bs.

He was behaving aggressively and was responded to both calmly and politely.

Why the police decided to remove him would need to be answered by them but I suspect it was because he had been allowed to make his point but his persistence and “in your face” aggression was considered a potential threat. Was he given a 3 month sentence for that alone or were there other matters considered? Like restraining orders, previous convictions or additional incidents?

I don't see how you can consider that as aggresive. He was calmly asking questions and it was the other guy that touched him and had to be asked to stop.
As for his persistence, why shouldn't he persist if they do not answer the questions.
I would like to know what law he had actually broken in this instance to recieve a 3 month sentence. Maybe there is somehing else that happended that is not in the video.

When you are on route to something else and are accosted by someone demanding answers to loaded questions how would you react? In fact the politician was calm and polite. I might not have been. It was aggressive. He wasn’t invited to ask a question! He demanded to be heard. I object to anyone invading my space and time without them first asking.

If anyone cold calls me I ask them whether I have requested the call. When they obviously say no I tell them that when I do I will talk to them. Until then, I won’t. Phone down.

You are right though. It seems unlikely that on its own would be enough for 3 months inside. He probably has previous.

His opening line was to ask., and the difference is that this is a politician: a man paid by the people, which technically should make him their servant, not their master!

Not enough to warrant deportation though. Funny old game

so Keir is my servant ? i wonder if he was a waiter , would he bring the same soup to all the customers ? with the same smile and the same urgency ? or would he behave differently toward different customers ?
