Ben Chilwell

Not at all a ridiculous comment Lanzo , Even if we are paying half his wages for the rest of the season plus a loan fee of say 3 million , whats that about 4.5 mill for a bench warmer . Id rather keep the money and use it in the summer toward a permanent signing, Clyne has done okay at left back when he had to so has Richards .
Muñoz has never played RWB, at a decent standard, before he joined us, RB for Genk, and for Columbia he has only played RB, in a diamond midfield, so he could easily play RB.

Honestly, Clyne was shocking at LWB vs Stockport, who are quite literally League One opposition. Not only is he not a LWB (better as a RCB/RB/RWB) but we can't expect him to seriously back Mitchell up for a full Prem season + an FA Cup run (hopefully!). If Luton come in for Wardy then there's even less depth. I don't particularly want Chilwell but Beste has gone to Freiburg and Slavia don't want to sell Diouf so our hand has been forced somewhat. We definitely need a LWB in SOME capacity this window and unfortunately Chilwell is probably the best we can get at this point.

Im fine with borrowing Chilwell so long as we dont overpay (70k/wk max), and plus if he gets a long term injury we can give him back at no extra cost to us. (Damaged goods)
This way we get immediate cover. We then have yet another summer to try and find a LWB or keep Chilwell for another season if things are working out.

A Loan swap deal, Holding to Sheff Utd and we acquire Rhys Norrington-Davies from the 'Blades'.
Rhys is an attacking left-back who has played as a left wing-back and in a back 3 at Sheff Utd.
Schooled in Croydon and played for Merstham
😀

If he is up to the job Willo, then why not.

0 goals and 0 assists in the Championship.... Not a big fan of Chilwell but I don't think RND really fits the attacking wing-back profile that we've been longing for. Not to mention 0 Premier League experience at the age of 25.

Norrington-Davies has PL experience with Sheff Utd albeit limited.
He competes with Harrison Burrows whom I believe would be a more useful acquisition however the transfer fee could be prohibitive.

I was only think until the end of the season for Clyne, cant believe we would extend his contract

Ah, fair enough. My bad, didn't research that enough.

Regardless, my point still stands. Chilwell would be better imo.

Cold is it? My roof is damaged from the storms last week but I had power - unlike many round here on the West Coast of Ireland who haven't had it for over a week.
Let's say that we have good ventilation now.
I live opposite a golf course and it blows like hell.

Keep the receipt?

If we get him (all possibly academic) and he is bobbins, we send him back in the dud bag in May.

If he is a game changer, Chelsea will want way more than we can or wish to pay.

Either way, he will be a half season wonder.

We will be buying time that’s all. But after today that could be very valuable. We can’t expect Mitchell to carry the load and today showed why as he limped off.

Ollie is confident we will have another signing and maybe a centre back in addition, so unless the Diouf deal is being completed I assume he means Chilwell on loan

I take it back a few years ago...I think it was 2012, Doug had taken the reins, we got hammered by Bristol City and deadline day was upon us, with no signings in sight...the next minute Darcy Blake, Andre Moritz and Yannick Bolassie all signed, all out of the blue. Since then, we have done okay with late signings, i wouldn't rule out a few from left field. No way am I ITK and purely my opinion! Either this or Parish now thinks after today we are nearly safe and we get no one!
