Ashes cricket

He has missed several chances himself plus several calamitous innings. What would it take to get dropped when the best Keeper and also batter is Foakes? Another pick of a one day mate. Which bar Root is this whole squad. Root is the only test player we have.
The only one the Aussies would pick, great batsman and pretty poor as a skipper.

And Harry Brook should have been sent home from New Zealand.

I get it, but for me no.....Botham and Gower did just as much.

I think these things are taken too seriously and young men make mistakes.....I agree with the fine but that's it.

Though I agree that a captain doing this is too much.

Brook shouldn't be captain.....and to be honest he doesn't appear that bothered either way.

The fact that being captain doesn't seem to affect his batting is probably why the management are so keen.

Different times for elite sportsman, footballers don't drink. I think Botham and Gower were more wine drinkers, by the case no doubt.

I'm not for treating your best players like children.

For example, I think Gooch ended Gower's career early when it had another year or so of good runs.....just because he wanted a certain type of player.

Obviously their are lines and fines and so on....but I don't think English cricket has that luxury of pick and choosing if we want to play our best sides.

There's a particular elegance that top left handers have, Gower was one of the best!

Unfortunately Gower was allergic to training which Gooch who was England captain at the time thought made him a bad cricketer. Year later he did apologize and admit that he was wrong
