Ashes cricket

He's a promising young bowler who's just been pushed too fast too soon.

The ECB should make sure he gets games at county level.....They have really stuffed spinners and that's criminal if you want to push for being the number one test side.
Just picking the best would probably be a start. On merit. If they want to bring youngsters along for experience then fine. But there's little point if they don't even play for their county. It becomes doubly ridiculous when the top spinner in England plays for the same county and there was no reason he couldn't play. If they needed a spinner.

When we struggled to get our total of 384 it was clear they were going to get 500 odd. And we all know what happens next, they skittle our top order out before we’ve even cleared the deficit

I’ve been staying up watching the first session until 1.30, I won’t be bothering tonight
Smith's dismissal was horrendous but the fielding has been extremely poor.

Bethell is definitely the future.

One of the biggest indications of rare talent is having that little extra bit of time than most other batsman and combine that with calm shot selection and you have a rare bird.

A big century and the next highest score is 42.

We are highly likely to lose this last test......It's now time to analyse who has done enough to continue as test players. I think we have seen a lot of test careers end here.....Well, we should have.

The players I think are worth sticking with are:

Duckett (deserves the summer to reset himself)
Bethell (Obvs)
Root
Brook
Tongue
Atkinson (close to being fifty fifty to me but I just think he's solid and should have played the third test)

Fifty fifty for me.

Smith (but not as a wicketkeeper)
Stokes (because I have significant doubts as to his fitness)
Carse (I predicted he would take the most wickets and he did except not bowling well. I like his mentality and fitness)
Archer (But only down to fitness, if he's fit he plays)

A wafer of hope on the horizon. The Aussies will smash it. or they would have done, had there been anything still to fight for.

Big no to Smith. Look at how Foakes has been doing. At least he can keep wicket too. Smith has been one of England's biggest problems this tour, amongst many. Smith should be the one day keeper perhaps but not test keeper.

Keep him well away from Baz.

He has missed several chances himself plus several calamitous innings. What would it take to get dropped when the best Keeper and also batter is Foakes? Another pick of a one day mate. Which bar Root is this whole squad. Root is the only test player we have.
