AEK predictions

Take it seriously qualify first then think about rotating not before.
I agree in principle but I am seriously worried about how we have have faded in the games against Forest and Everton. Sunday is a tough game.

It won’t be an easy game but I think Lerma for Richards, Hughes for Kamada and Nketiah for Sarr is still a strong but fresher side to hopefully get us a goal in front.

Then the three replaced players can come on as subs for Guehi/Wharton/Mateta and still maintain strength throughout, to see us through.

I’d want to be two goals up before considering the likes of Canvot, Devenny at left wing back, Cardines at right wing back.

Cardines, Uche and Esse have all started this evening against Stevenage.
Why would we rotate in our first home group european game?

So, we now know who won't be playing on Thursday. Also, I agree we have to take these European games seriously otherwise we will come unstuck and be left with the proverbial egg on our face. I'll be surprised if there are more than 3 changes for Thursday and that will be about ensuring the so-called 1st XI can be available for Arsenal on Sunday.

Tough line-up to pick. Although I feel our second string will have enough to get a result...they'll have something to prove and will keep us fresh for Arsenal. Our dogged, tough players such as Richards and Hughes will be key for Arsenal, so keen to keep them fresh. I'd go:

Benitez

Canvot - Lacroix - Guehi

Clyne - Kamada - Lerma - Mitchell

Pino - Esse

Nketiah

As an aside, it's actually a joke that Arsenal get two days extra rest. I understand the scheduling is a nightmare...but those extra 48 hours is going to be hugely significant. Is Thursday - Saturday a common theme? Surely if we play Thursday, we shouldn't have prem games until at least Sunday/Monday.

We're playing them on Sunday!

We play Sunday. And then we both play again on the Wednesday.

Arsenal played Saturday and then played tonight.

All our matches in the PL after an ECL Thursday game will be on a Sunday unless we've been chosen by SKY to play the Monday Night fixture. You may recall that our game against Villa had been chosen for Friday Night football but was moved to Sunday evening (7.00pm) because of our tie in Norway.

Arsenal were lucky with regard to their fixture with us in that they got the Tuesday slot this week in the CL rather than the Wednesday one. The downside for them was that they had one less day to prepare for their CL game after playing Saturday evening.

It goes with teh territory of playing in Europe. We have to get used to it.

Of the 3 centre backs, the one that I would rest is Richards. He looked off the pace on Saturday after his exertions for the USA particularly given the very high standard he has set for himself this season
Totally agree. Plus with Sosa out I wouldn’t be surprised if we start Devenny as left wing back in place of Mitchell starting? I also expect Lerma and Hughes to start and Nketia

I could see Devenny coming on as a left wing back, or maybe already starting and then reverting to left wing back in the event of a reshuffle, but I would be surprised if we took the risk and started that way.

He has done well for Norn Iron but doesn't look a natural fit in that position for me.

Jaydee Canvot on the other hand has really impressed me both with his minutes in red and blue and for France under 21s. I hope he gets a good run out as I think he is very close to a starting birth with us. Interestingly he played at right back for the French U21s and looked very assured in the clips I saw. Maybe he's an option if OG wants to give Munoz a breather.

One of these days we’re going to take all our chances and give someone a good hiding, I still think it’s going to be tomorrow. Especially as there’s a monsoon coming so they’re not going to fancy it much

They might, but on the bench.
