The alternative is a budget signing like Sosa (who has some pedigree/experience and appears to have been happy to be a reserve who plays in some cup games) or a loan like Chilwell (who was probably expensive per minute played but gave highly qualified cover and did well enough when called upon).

I guess also a Devenny or Lerma - first choice in no position but because of versatility plays quite a bit.

He's been rubbish in games I've watched. I also thought he'd be quicker. However, we weren't exactly impressed (understatement) with Kamada - or even Mateta initially - so things can change.
