Wouldn't surprise me if we have another lockdown due to some varied disease s***. During last lockdown how many crossed the channel whilst you couldn't see your family, attend a funeral. Wear a mask. f*** me every scrote up to no good in the UK wears one now. How the laws change.

It’s easy to write such things but you know why both are impractical in our country. Where the rule of law and observance of international treaties is still respected.

It has nothing to do with me, or anyone else, being soft. It’s just the way a democracy like ours works.

In an authoritarian state, as the USA has become, it could be done like that. Do you want that here? Really?

So it can’t be done but then it can be done. Yes I do want that here. Really, yes. Several countries have ignored rules for decades and now it’s time for us to. Worldwide we’re known as a soft touch and it must stop. Poland are t having it, Greece are stopping it and Denmark aren’t having it either.

It seems quite simple to me. House them in hotels in areas that are Labour or Lib Dem who are fully supportive of migrants being housed here - the people who object to others who don't want them in their area - and once the statistics show there's no threat to the local population then it can be widened to other constituencies. Somewhere like Truro comes to mind.
It must be quite easy to match those constituencies that are pro-migrant with needy migrants themselves surely? Unless, of course, it's different it if it affects you directly.

Don't house them anywhere, don't give them any support whatsoever.

The court decision is a technical one in that the hotel concerned did not have planning permission to change it's business use. This probably applies to most of them across the country.

Councils that are pro immigration will no doubt approve change of use quickly.

However this highlights for me the absurdity of the governments policy. Councils are simply having migrants dumped on their door step and told they have to take care of them. Whilst the government maybe paying some costs their is a real cost to the local council who never asked for this in the first place.

Personally I would be building a version of those Nightingale temporary hostels if the migrants don't like that they can always go back to tent city in France.

Comparing us to any other country is to deny the reality of the English Channel. We face a unique problem. Poland is not a country of choice for illegal migrants. Greece have introduced temporary restrictions to try to mitigate a particular problem. Denmark has introduced a multi faceted approach, trying to speed up processing and returns alongside improving integration efforts. None though border the English Channel.

People who think simple solutions will solve complex problems aren’t the problem, but they don’t help to solve them.

The English Channel should actually help us control immigration - you try to make out it somehow hinders us. There really is no limit to the ridiculous ideas that you peddle

As I don’t know anyone at all who is pro illegal migration you would struggle to find whole constituencies that are. There are only two real Hotels in Truro itself, catering for business visitors. Most tourists stay on the coast and the Hotels are very full during the season. Some overcapacity in Newquay has been used but I doubt if too many would want the kind of contracts offered. Using off season accommodation in caravan and lodge resorts presents issues because they could only be used in the winter and aren’t suitable, or approved, for such use. They could be upgraded, as some have been for use by the Council to house the homeless, but providing supervision would be a challenge.

I didn't say anything about illegal migration. You've introduced that phrase. I spoke of those who were pro-migration but, unsurprisingly, it appears that there is no room at the inn within the area that you live. How convenient.

Then you have Yvette Cooper appealing against the decision to close The Britannia in Epping. They make us sick.

I wasn’t answering anything that you wrote! I asked a question of another poster.

There is a huge difference, both in the acceptance of people here of the need for, and the needs of, legal migrants and irregular ones.
