Looks like you not wanting any illegals here may be right (well, almost right for Cornwall). Sky has an interesting article listing each area of the UK and the numbers therein. So, Croydon has 958, 60% in hotels. Cornwall has 16, none in hotels (lucky you), and, surprise, surprise, the seat of our government (Westminster) has none at all.

You would have to ask them what they have been advised but I expect it’s down to there being a greater probability of an asylum application succeeding if we are unable to prove which country they originate from. I have long thought there seems an obvious solution to this with modern biometrics. Make airlines responsible for capturing photos of the face and passport of everyone whose ultimate destination is the UK and check they have a valid visa before boarding. Then using facial recognition software we can identify anyone who presents without documentation and return them. We could go further and for those applying for visitor visas from countries which have a poor record for undocumented migrants add the cost of a return ticket to the visa fee, the value of which is refunded if they leave at the end of their stay. They are already required to hold a return ticket as a visa condition.

You even said yourself recently that even if we changed things the agencies selling them the dream in their African village would still continue to do so.
