Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

Lol, lets not take Wilfs opinion to be reflective of all.

Take a potential championship incomming, e.g. Hayden Hackney, I have no doubt that he'd be buzzing to play European football.

Its nothing to do with long term ambition. And doesn't mean that players dont have ambition to go higher. In the short term it jsut means that we are a slightly more attractive proposition than some of our peers.

Last post you really don't get it it makes no difference between Conf & Europa League.

You are coming up with these made up scenarios.

I said it in the last post you have not been around or competed yourself as an athlete so you don't understand.

Playing in premier League has more attraction then those 2 for people who are coming from outside.

In YOUR opinion (and the gospel according to Wilf)

You've also misunderstood my original post. I wasn't comparing the Conference to Europa. I was comparing some form of Europe to nothing....e.g. now we have to qualifywe might be out of Europe all together in 17 days.

So, if I was a potential incoming player, and wanted to play in Europe, I wouldn't be signing now, I'd just hang on for a week or 2 to see if get past Fredrikstad.

I'm predicting a shocking ref making lot's of interesting decisions to stop Palace protesting on TV beyond the play off game. Hope i'm wrong and we win it now
We need to drop the protesting and do our talking:
  1. Firstly on the pitch, and
  2. secondly by getting fully behind our team and supporting them as the best fans in the PL that we are widely believed to be.
It's important for both club and fans that we move on because resentment and protest tend to negativity and feelings of being hard done by - feelings that tend to be strength sapping.

We are winners, so let's get out there and win some more and leave the unjust recent stuff behind.

100%

Might be worth locking this thread until final week of the window I really can't see us doing anything until then.

I think other clubs if they come in for our players will be the same.

They need to get every league to agree the window should close before the season starts it's stupid system.

Abso-bloody-lutely 100%

IF, they continue with their 'protests' at UEFA during European games, that will lead to fines for the club, leading to more fines, possible stand closures & worst case scenario, full closure of the ground ie: played behind closed doors. Nobody wants that, so, DB fully agree with you.

My best guess what will happen?

Guehi goes and we buy a quality centre back to replace him and buy/loan another defender for the squad.
Eze stays and we buy/loan another attacking player.

This gives Glasner his two additional players as requested.

Any other offers?

Why? I don’t think the protests will be in support of a prescribed terrorist organisation; just a reminder of the injustice that UEFA have created. If they can’t handle that then it rather supports the view that they are embarrassed by their own rules.

I don't think you realize just how ruthless UEFA can be (Both Chelsea and Villa have been given big fines £20 plus million and £9 million respectively and threats of significantly larger ones- nearly £100m in Chelsea's case - if they don't tow the line on expenditure).

UEFA's annual prize money for their club competitions runs to some £3billion plus. IMO, they are not going to let a little club like Crystal Palace give them bad press for long before dishing out the punishments to us. After all, we'll be playing in one of their competitions.

You make UEFA sound like the mafia…something the protests seemed to have realised…

What I find quite difficult is that everyone complains about the amount of money we've not spent. We've never normally been "big spenders" in the transfer market. We do smart business - you look at our current squad and we have some absolute world beaters, all of their market value is higher (at least double) than what we've paid for them.

We need more players in the door and ideally would have done this earlier in the window. However, when we need to make 1 or 2 marquee signings (given that we are looking to replace Guehi and probably Eze) this is almost impossible to do when you don't even know which competition you will be playing in. The club have had to put alot of focus on the appeal to make sure they get it right. If we sign a few players before the deadline and come January had a settled squad, performing well, top 10 of the Prem, Europa League football - no one would be complaining.

As always with Palace, wait until the window closes to make your judgements - not 3 weeks before!

Not sure about that bit with Franca, Nketiah & Esse. We do tend to do smart business yes, but there will always be some that don’t work out too.

Genuine question…why would our club be fined or a stand / ground closure for an anti UEFA protest of some description by the supporters during a match?

They have done it before with other teams in various comps over the years, these are the 'sanctions' available to them to dish out for any, how shall we say, 'disrespecting them', disrespecting the comp' not unlike the FA where there are squillions of rules/sub-sections etc they can enforce in an obscure way of wording, if you catch my drift.

We have 'poked' the bear, let's hope it continues it's slumber & concentrates on other matters. Let's go win the Conference League & upset them. I do hope, tho, probably a losing one, that fans act as they would/should at SP whilst away in Europe, banners/flares etc.

I think Guehi has to be sold now. The Parish interview was very telling, as was Marc’s reaction to the supporters and his fellow players when he was substituted towards the end of the game on Sunday.

I just don’t think Parish can stomach the thought of Guehi leaving next summer for free and having to spend circa £30M to replace him. Better to get that done now so your incoming player is bought for an amount at or less than we sell Guehi for and you then have your new man on a 3 to 4 year deal and potentially less wages than we were paying our club captain.

We bought Lacroix for €18M, Forest bought Murillo and Milenkovic for €12M each, Bournemouth paid €20M for Huijsen. Good centrebacks do NOT have to cost a fortune and are on average cheaper than similarly rated midfielders and attackers.

There are specific rules in place that the club is responsible for it's supporters and what they do. They can fine you for "F$CK UEFA! banners and so on ..... But their are more subtle ways for protests to trick these rules. For example UEFA can't fine a club if all supporters are late and enter the stadium/stands not earlier than 15 min after kick-off and then go fully behind the team. Pictures of an empty stadium or at least empty stand of the die-harts at kick-off are usually broadcasted widely and commentators usually not shy to deliver the reason behind them. Makes more sense and receives more attention than a "F$CK UEFA" banners or similar, which have been seen for decades in Europe and are nothing extraordinary.

Spell it Phuck, they can’t touch us for that…
